It works great.
I'm happy to have it back.

Hash error Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm having the same hash error problems as the previous reviewer.

I tried installing some of the previous versions and got the same error messages.

I'm running Windows Vista.

Edited to add: Changing my options to allow third-party cookies eliminated the hash error. Go figure.

It was great in FF2 but at the moment it does nothing, hope we'll be able to set icons for folder soon. Keep up the good work. Deactivated atm, but I'll wait for updates.

Great Add-On if I could ever get it installed. I keep getting error message that it's not a valid install package..

I loved FP 2 and WANT to love version 3 but... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I can't because the "browse" option does not open anything. I have installed the adon at work on my XP machine and at home on my Vista machine and it doesn't work on either. I have pretty much the same adons on both so maybe one of them is causing a conflict. Anybody else have the same problem?

This is a great extension that just needs some fin tuning! I have been wating for this since the day I downloaded FF3 and I am very greatful to those developing it. There is one problem I am experiencing thought. Many favicons that should show up automatically are goine. For instance when I go to amazon now the favicon does not show up. This is a bug that needs to be fixed but other then that GREAT JOB!! Thank you!

Excellent! One wish list item... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on, thank you! It works perfectly but there is one thing I wish it could also do. There's a method that I use to force a webpage to open in the IE Tab add-on. In the properties box you preface "location" with "chrome://ietab/content/reloaded.html?url="

When I do this and launch the page it replaces the chosen icon with a blank page icon. I don't think this is a shortcoming of Favicon Picker but it would be great if I could continue to use the IETab force method along with Favicon Picker. Thank you again for this great add-on!

try this

ok, now it's fixed. icons should show up in both places. make sure the options are both UNchecked and get the latest version

i have a problem Rated 2 out of 5 stars

i eagerly waited for the FF3 version of this extension since i liked the previous version so much. however, i find that every time i use it, the value of browser.chrome.favicons gets set to false in about:config. this has some adverse affects on existing bookmarks favicons display (ie. google, yahoo). i wonder has anyone else seen this problem.

Works well! I wish it would work for RSS feeds, and it would be nice if there could be an option that would allow it to pluck a favicon from a URL.

thanks!

for the url thing, i'll try to make this easier in a future release. right now, you could also just type the url into the "Browse..." dialog that opens up

it`s true , can you fix that??

fixed blank icon thing

it should be fixed now

Whoops, I should have tried to use it with blank icons. I'm having same problems as reported with replacing icons that don't already exist. Still, it's better than not have any option for bookmark icons.

Doesn't save icon selection for blank icons, options tab not available.

method for changing Bookmark folder icons... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

finny08,

If you are thinking about adding the ability to modify Bookmark folder icons, here is the method for doing that by manually editing your userchrome file. Maybe this will be helpful to you.

best,

good idea

That would work. I've been working on another release that will fix most of the bugs thus far. Along the way, I've thought up at least two different (possible) methods of setting folder icons through an extension. This makes three! It is certainly possible

Works great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It works fine for me and has the same interface as v.2. FF3 and Windows XP SP3. Thanks finny08!

another good improvement... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Thanks for adding the Options dialog - it looks like those 2 checkboxes allow you to set browser.chrome.favicons and browser.chrome.site_icons to either true or false.

I'll repeat my feature request from my previous post: how about being able to change the icon for Bookmark *folders" as well?

Thanks again for a nice extension.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.0.2).

thanks!

Thanks for the kind reviews! You got the options down exactly. The way it sets the icons now doesn't work that well - unless one of those boxes are checked, firefox will check the website looking for a new favicon and overwrite the one we added every time you visit the page. But if you check them, then the favicons don't show up in the tabs. This behavior turns out to be really hard to change through an extension. I'm trying to think up a way to fix that.

The folders idea is a great one. Also perhaps being able to save an existing icon.

works great now! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for making the fix, finny08. Now it works like a charm with blank icons.

One request for a future version: the ability to change the icons for Bookmark *folders* as well.

Great extension!
