The poster below, metal321, actually was missing something. Some websites or pages don't have favicons. This add-on allows you to add your own.

I like that you are given an option to add a favicon as you bookmark a new site.

The other function is to change existing bookmarks, but it seems only can do that thru the Add-ons > Options menu.

It needs improvement tho. You can't really use this unless you just have a bunch of random favicons on your harddrive or you know how to extract them from web pages.

Needs ability to extract and save favicons you see on the tab bar by via right click menu. It would also be nice if a bunch of favicons came bundled with it, perhaps a favicon for each letter of the alphabet and a few shapes.

When you go to options, it runs you through a sort of wizard where you get to search your bookmarks and replace favicons.

Instead of seaching the bookmarks, it would be easier to select them from a list. It would also be cool if you could use this add-on by right clicking a bookmark within your bookmarks as you would to change the name or something.

I use this only to assign favicons to favicon-less bookmarks in my bookmark toolbar only. It is just takes too much time for other uses.

Some websites do not have own favicons, and that's the job for this add-on, and it work just what it have to. Add custom favicon to your bookmarks...

good, but not what I needed Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This lets you use any icon you want, reliably and flexibly.

It works fine in situations where Firefox doesn't automatically choose the favicon, but it's a bit more trouble than I wish. Basically I save http://www.domain.tld/favicon.ico locally, and load it in Favicon Picker. Favicon Picker lets you use any icon you want, but what I really want is a quick, automatic way to do use the site's favicon.

All that said, this Add-on does its job.

Nice Try, No Cigar Rated 1 out of 5 stars

No offense to the creator but this add-on sucks. For one thing, why would you go to the website to get a favicon when Firefox already does that? Or am I missing something here. I also don't like having to go into the add-ons to use the thing. I think I'll have to look elsewhere to find a better favicon program.

Like it, but.... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Nice program. I like custom icons instead of the defaults. Some icons do not show properly, like they are too big in the bookmarks (only 1/4 of the icon shows up).

Nice program. Easy to use. Some icons do not show properly (1/4 of the icon shows up on the bookmarks). Still, wish this was standard on Firefox.

THANK YOU!
But I also agree with zhekanax, it would be 102% better if you let us import an icon from a url.

Where did my icons go? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It sounds nice, but what happens if you simply want to restore the original icons you had?

Worked really fast at removing all my bookmarked icons. Now, how do I get them back?

Favicon Picker is a splendid tool when combined with the Smart Bookmarks Bar. It does what it's supposed to and it works really well. But no support for FF 3 Beta 4 yet, which is too bad.

I had to write in about this one! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wow, what a needed service this one is. Not only can you change icons for each bookmark, but it doesn't have to be an .ico file. I've assigned .bmp's and .png's as well. Most Cool! tks...

Very Good... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

So far, this seems to work in FireFox2.00.12 but it would have been "better" if the Author had "shown" users HOW to "Configure and Use" this add-on~!

For those that NEED TO KNOW:

After downloading and Restarting FireFox, you will have to do: "Tools" > "Add-Ons" > "FavPicker", then select "Options" to begin using...

NOTE: It only seems to work if you choose "by URL" option, then you will have to CREATE an image of your fav site by "downloading" a copy of site's icon (I use SnagIt8 for capture)

That's All~! :-)

Great app - request: save favicons Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great app, but I wish it had import AND export functions - i.e. to be able to save favicons, not just load them. This would save time, and allow users to pluck one favicon and use it on another item.

Love it, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is one of my favorite extensions, but it'd be nice if it could also change the icons for folders. I switched over from Maxthon (when they went to v2.0) to Firefox, and my only real complaint is that the folders in my bookmark toolbar are all the same.

This should be default in firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It is rare that I find an extension so useful and obvious that I say to myself "this should be in firefox by default". Favicon picker is one of those extensions.
