For me, it failed to expand links shortened by bit.ly and its permutations.
Works just fine with FF5, just install 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' add-on which allows installation of add-ons marked as being 'not available for Firefox X,x', (meant for testing purposes).
As for modus operandi, I don't mind having to right click short URLs to analyse them individually since I don't need to check every one on a page plus I think the CPU and network overhead is small because of this. Lastly, this tool is MUCH more efficient than others which stall at most of the links I've tried, this one gets 'em all!
Good work Love Sharma, you're a hero!
Would give zero stars if possible - does not work with FF4!
Where is 4.0 support?
Good idea, but totally useless, because you have to click on every link and right-lick to see where it leads. Don't use this, there are better addons!
right click on the link then click expand link, wait for a while, and close the window? no! too slow.
I agree with bikeking8. This should be a recommended extension. With so many security breaches to worry about we need all of the help that we can get. Love this extension. Sorry to have come to it so late.
Well... it does what it says, but why do I feel disappointed? Right-clicking each and every link and going through tones of options on the pop-up menu... just to see where it goes? ...and wait, I have to close the pop-up that pops-up..
I'm back to using URL Sniffer that automatically expands all the shortened URLs on a web page and replaces them with the original links.
And I don't even have to download anything.
Just put the bookmarklet onto bookmarks bar and it's ready to use.
There is interactive demo on the home page:
Could we get a FF3.6 compatible update please? :)
Done buddy... for 3.6 compatible also... :)
This is a service that should have been released alongside the first url shortening service years ago. I'm a PC technician and our store gets at least 2 home computers a day infected with viruses. From the get-go I knew url shortening was going to be a risky proposition, as the process can hide the url of infected websites which would otherwise be obvious. True, out of the hundreds of url shortening services there's a few that give you link previews, but that can still be risky as the infected webpage is still being called via whatever process. Great job, this should be a recommended addon alongside AdBlock Plus.
This is a good start. You can view the true URL by right-clicking and selecting Expand URL. I wish there was a way for it to automatically show the long URL in the status bar.
Keep up the good work!
