  • Very useful! Can you update to Firefox 57+?
  • Hi,
    as you can see lots of people have problems with dust-me, i searched google for alternatives and found https://unused-css.com/ . I think it is a GREAT Tool. It crawls your site and creates the necessary diffs over ALL (!!!!) css stylesheets and pages ... This saves you hours of work. Especially when it comes to isses regarding your page speed (see: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/) It helped me a lot!

    And and by the way I got all the errors in dust-me the other users described here. So I turned to https://unused-css.com

    Best regards
  • I tried to cleanup a single page, it found 400 used selectors and 4400 unused. Then it started working and.... it took an hour to complete about 5% so I had to cancel it. No CPU utilization though...
    And it doesn't work with pages loaded from disk, it shows a wrong error message in this case.
  • :-((((((((((((((((((((((((((
  • oops! it was no wok in firefox 50.
  • It's okayish. It does what it's supposed to for most part but there are still some bugs.

    (In the end I had fixed the "undefined" bug and inability to parse css's from local hdd by myself; use NQy0yqCF on pastebin if you know how to apply a git patch and where to find the extension files).
  • Hi,

    First: Thanks for this nice add-on - its really cool

    The CSS cleaning function may add multiple instances of "undefined" into the output.
    I'm working on an update that will fix these issues, to be released as soon as possible.

    Is this update available soon ?
    Is it possible to delete all the "undefined" tages in the out or better >> What can i do to remove them w/o getting problems?

    Regards and many thanks
  • I too am now seeing a transparent window after successfully seeing the results previously. There was no update to Firefox when this changed. I get the same result on all sites, even after trashing all data. View Stored Data resulted in the same transparent window. The window does not engage at all, it remains behind the main FF windows. Using Firefox 45.0.1, Windows 10 Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586.

    Otherwise, when it worked, it worked nicely. The only thing I'd like to see is a compiled list of the selectors and functions as opposed to just the selectors. Thank you!
  • Firstly, a "Export clean CSS" would be useful. Secondly, a list of selectors used is not useful, a list of rules used would be useful (not selectors). Thirdly, the results are wrong. "article" "figcaption" in the used list? They're not in my site. Disappointing
  • Other than the "hidden window" bug this addon is great. A quickfix for Windows users is to Alt + tab to the hidden window and press Windows button + up arrow, which maximizes the window.
  • The app was not working for me. I thought may be it was a bad download so I uninstalled it to install it back. It requested a reboot which I did. I come back to find it has downloaded an adware with out my permission. Will not install again.
    I will try this on another computer and get back to you. But I am certain I did not download anything else for weeks. For now I will rate it at 3 stars.
    You're mistaken. The extension did not require a reboot or install adware. I don't know what did happen, but this extension was not responsible.
  • Addons works but in my CSS file often certain selectors are replaced with the text "undefined" which is really unfortunate, because other than that it works really well. This happens regardless of whether I set it to comment out or delete the unused selectors. Using Firefox 40.0.2 on Windows 10.
  • Great Add-On. Does exactly what I want, except for the "Clean" button that reports Error: "Cannot process stylesheet [Content-type is not CSS]". Apparently this error is cause by my OS (Linux: Xubuntu) not being a SERVER install. I'm on a Desktop installation: Xubuntu Trusty 14.04. I've manually removed the "unused selectors" one by one to test this and it seems perfect.

    Dust-Me Selectors version: 4.1.1-signed (most recent)

    I'm working on individual html + css LOCAL files, one at a time, NOT using spider.

    Is there a package, or a few packages, I could install to make this work on a Desktop OS? If not, would it be a lot of work to tweak this add-on to make it work?

    Thanks. Keep on the good work.
  • amazing tool for CSS optimization with excellent results checked at PAGESpeed (Google).
    By now yout must be very carefull with selectors to remove... I mean, this is not a ONE-CLICK TOOL,,,,,, YET! thanks to developer for such a usefull addon, hope you keep it going even better. thankyou!
  • This looks to be exactly what I need, but the cleaned CSS that gets saved has "undefined" throughout. e.g.

    margin: 4px 30px 1px 0;

    If that could be fixed, I'd be using this every day!
  • I have tried Dust-it and if it worked it would be brillient, but for some reason it is giving me false positives. It is tellng me a selector does not exist when I know it does. I have scanned every page and it still keeps on telling me that some selectors are not being used when they most definately are. So I cannot trust this plugin. The selectors it is telling me are not being used are ID's.
  • I'm having the same issue as other users. After scanning the data window does not appear. I can see it at the bottom of the screen - next to other open browsers, but when clicking it doesn't come to the front. I suspect it has to do with the latest FF update.

    I'm using FF 38.0.1
    Windows 7, Service Pack 1

    I'd gladly pay you double if you can fix it. Please!!!!!

    I'm giving it a 1 star, because it is now broken (for me).

    PS.. this DOES work on a MAC.
    OSX 10.9.5
    FF 38.01
  • awesome plugin! thanks
  • This was working but now I got undefined instead of /*. Eg:

    undefined.qty { font-size: smaller; color: orange; }

    which should be

    /**.ufb { border-bottom:1px solid #DDDDDD; margin-bottom:10px; padding-bottom:9px; }
    .qty { font-size: smaller; color: orange; }

    Choosing erase, instead of comment-out, lefts the word undefined. It seems to forgot how to comment out.

    PS: To fix transparent window issue in Win 7, hover over small screen on task bar which is transparent and right click then select maximize. This happens because it is offscreen and it's width and height is 0px.

    Edit: Also seeing something like this

    undefinedh3 small,
    undefined {
    font-weight: normal;
    line-height: 1;
    color: #999999;
    Thanks for the useful feedback. I'm working on an update that will fix these issues.
  • It works. Thank you for so useful plugin. But it couldn't scan only 1 page. (It threw an error). I had to create second one with the link to the target page. I think it was bug of the website. The plugin works perfectly for me with another website.
    I'm not sure what you mean. You opened a page in the browser, and then clicked the "Scan this page" button, and it didn't work? Were there any errors in the Browser Console?
  • Dust-Me Data window is not display (transparent window in win8)

    I have uninstalled all the Add-ons, Firefox, then I installed Firefox and same Dust-Me Selectors and then the same thing ;P

    When I click on the icon, and then "View stored data ..." in the same :P

    Thanks for the help in advance :)

    Platform: Win 8.1 (latest version)
    Firefox: 34.0.5 (latest version)

    Scans only you don't see the window (I do not want to display) (blank window)

    Thanks, I'm looking into this problem at the moment, but still having great difficulty making it happen repeatedly.

    Some questions:

    - what platform are you on (version and service pack if applicable)
    - what version of firefox
    - when you click the view stored data button, are you currently viewing a page you've already scanned, or a page you haven't scanned, or a blank page, or something else?
  • I’ve been working on my personal website for a couple of years, adding and removing features, changing things drastically. As a result my css was a total mess. Dust-Me cleaned up and halved the css file in seconds, satisfying my perfectionist tendencies. THANKS
  • Simply genious. I tried it, I loved it.
    Works automatically and dedects all Selectors on your Webpage, that you have active. GREAT. THANKS
