I was looking for something to do what this does, however instead of narrowing the text, I wanted to expand it to fill my smallish screen. None of the options fit my screen perfectly, so if this addon included the option to specify your own custom width, I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars. As it stands, it is really good within the bounds of the preset options. Since I can't find anything else that does what this does, I have to go with it.
If there was an easy way to customize those presets, this would be absolutely perfect, as it is, it is annoying that I can't fill my screen to my liking.
Then again, I was actually looking to do the opposite of what this was intended to do, so maybe I shouldn't complain too much. I wanted to expand the width on pages with absurdly large margins and lots of wasted space on my old narrow monitor, rather than add wasted space.
absolutely does what i need. have been using this for years on firefox. would you please develop this for chrome as well? The only app that does this there is Page Width and sadly it does not work after i downloaded it. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this addon is very helpful for ultra wide screens.
Does what I was looking for :) A life saver for badly formatted sites!
It would be even nicer though if it'd stick to the tab on which it was activated. I mean if I click a link or refresh page it'd be great if width setting would stay.
Keep up good work! It's only an inch away from perfect :)
ну и hide caption title bar plus... браузер конфеткой станет)) не забудьте только рекламу вырезать)
EyeFinity and Surround gaming users, this is what you're looking for. The name is very odd, but it does exactly what you've been wanting. No more manually resizing a browser window because full screen spans all 3 monitors.
It would be nice if I wouldn't have to push the button at every reload and new page.
Great extension. Exactly what I needed to read more clearly web sites that use liquid design techniques.
I wish the width definition would stay for a web site until I cancel it, and not be reset every page load.
Great addon! Does everything it's supposed to without fuss.
Just a couple of things. Is is possible to assign a keyboard shortcut (or mouse gesture, via Mouse Gesture Redox) to "switch page width?". That would be excellent! Also, I think it'd be useful to make it even narrower! For example, 420 pixels is ideal for 14-16px fonts .
Edit: Since then, I've worked out how to assign a keyboard shortcut to switch page widths, using the Keyconfig add-on . Using DOMi, I found the relevant code to be "dr_body_narrow.switchWidth();".
Useful extension but it should be able to persist its setting for different sites. When the site is reloaded the setting is lost. Even preferred width is impossible to set in advance.
Can't wait for newer versions of this add on. Adding the option to apply settings for all webpages would make it perfect.
Keep up the great work!
1. Allow going the other way round. Many websites are occupying a limited portion of the screen, which results on excessive scrolling for the user. Force the website to use ALL of the available screen space on the screen.
2. Do this automatically on every website -- This should be a one-time setting.
3. If you do have the above, make the add-on pick monitor resolution automatically for #1.
