Great! working on DownThemAll! nightly 3.0 b7 pre.20160705 windows 10 thanks! for support and fix this fantastic add-on
There was even a version 3 of DTA that was in development (there are tradeoffs, DTA 3 has some new functions but never got around to a few other really important things). Of course v3 never anticipated the concept of minimize and close on the window, but dta v2 has anticipated the idea of the minimize, maximize and close buttons on a window in Windows. But it was suddenly abandoned. The last developer stopped working on it or died years ago. And here we are. We need someone to add the code which effectively says :this is a window, to windows 8, 8.1, 10,. and so on.
Without anyone working on it anymore, we depend on smart people to see the error and make the small cryptic changes - and, not just for themselves, but we depend on people who publish the fix for everyone. Open source, freeware,, the concept of doing something because everyone benefits,, are dying industries.
As an aside: largely to blame is the silicon valley "app puts 2 and 2 together and it's worth millions" industry, who tell people they have "graduated" as a way of firing them., where everyone is a personal brand, and all that bs. Whatever is going on thiere, it has coincided with and likely caused the abandonment of addons, extensions, all these great things that people worked on. Maybe it's just a bad economy. But it feels like all the great addons have languished and are dying slowly, with a few patches by great people released just to make the thing work like it did a decade ago.
The selfless work of developing something free, even just updating an abandoned addon with something extremely basic, is a godsend. So thanks again!
(addendum: I wrote this review after some beer, so it's probably rambling)
I was using v3.0b6 on Firefox 45+ on Win 10. I think it was Firefox that updated although it may have been Windows. Either way, it stopped working and I have tried a completely clean install of Firefox and it still won't work. It is currently saying (when I try to reinstall v3.0b6) that: "The add-on downloaded from this site could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt"
My installed Add Ons are: -
Adblock Plus; Disconnect; DTA 2.0.19; DTA Anticontainer; DTA v3.0b6 Windows 10 FIX; MinimizeToTray revived (MinTrayR); NoScript; PageZipper; Tab Mix Plus although I have tried running with all of these addons disabled.
v3.0b6 is no longer working with current FF45.0.2
nightly builds however are working fine
I'd recommend if you install nightly, disable auto update for that addon, because after each update (every 24 hours) you'll need restart the browser - the update process makes the addon disfunctional.
Also, last time I've tried DTA Anticontainer, it was giving me problems with DTA, can't recall what exactly though.
Work with 3.0b7pre Nightly builds?
Works like a charm! DTA staff has been so ignorant about this issue and didn't seem to even test their work on the new OS after 5 months since its release, which honestly dissappoints me (and many other Win10 end users) quite a bit. I really appreciate that the author made this nice fix.
