For a start, don't listen to 'leo' below. This is THE firefox add-on. I have been using this for many versions and it is integral to my browser. Whether it's quicker than the default browser or not it is as a downloader should be and if you use firefox you will use this almost every time you browse.
4 Stars if anyone can help me figure out how to set the default download directory in the new firefox 4.0 version (For the DTA One Click and buttons on the menubar). I've looked everywhere, even tried changing it in filters. Only way I can figure out to do it (for example with the d/l selector button) is to look at the individual file info after it gets an arrow. It seems like there is a ... button missing on the dialogues or something, even on the suggested drop-down menu.
Para mi la mejor extencion para descargar =P
eu amo essa extenção.
THE download add-on for firefox.
Very useful for downloading a large series of files, or larges files too.
Indispensable to me :)
last version doesn't permit to choose a different download directory, You have to choose every time the directory if it is different from the default one, and it's very boring if you have to download a lots of files.
Very useful for downloading large files which potentially need a restart in firefox 3.6. Unfortunately crashes on average every five minutes with FF 4 beta release candidate
Best add-on there is. Period. Download speed increased from ~150kb/s to ~480kb/s. Peaked at ~630kb/s.It's amazing.
First of all, I love this addon and I use it more than any other download manager I had possibly used in my entire Internet life. But unfortunately I agree with this review: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/reviews/264227/ - "The little window appears with 2 tabs & the one containing the most useful information is second, requiring an additional mouse click every time."So, please, change line 38 of the info.xul file on chrome.jar to "" I simply hate to do that extra click every friggin' time I download a YouTube video to set the filename.
this app rox ^^
BTW Zen are you using AVG per chance ?
all so make sure on some "sites" for DL your using the latest java version
some probs not not so many that needs fixed
Love and peace
I WOULD LOVE A WAY TO SIMPLY EXPORT THE LIST OF LINKS TO IMAGES ON ANY PAGE INSTEAD OF DOWNLOADING THEM.
I need the actual Image LOCATION ADDRESSES not the imagens themselves for a database. A simple, export links to CSV shouldn't be so hard to implement!
Thanks for a WONDERFUL APP!!
Not so reliable with firefox 4 (beta) : often needs to start again, beacause 8/10 picture downloading abortion...
Ahh... superb addon, my favourite :) Would love to have a scheduler integrated tho, pretty please! That way I can really utilise the off-peak times on my server.
Love the simple interface, and it is straightforward and works great. My only request is that the developers port it to Chrome because there are no good download managers there! This is way better than the bloated piece of crap that is FlashGet.
This is the most successfull download manager in my experience over 4 years across more than 4 platforms for most web use
Nice addon, infact it could replace all my image download addons if it just could do what pterodactl(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pterodactl/) does.
If when you are in the links tab you could select 'download largest image on linked page' or something to that effect you could easily download galleries that embed their images on pages and yours would be the perfect download addon
Nice tool, works for me. Looking forward to an even faster version, because it's for none other than Firefox! Kudos, in short.
PLEASE add an option to disable this "queued items" bar at the bottom - this thing drives me mad.
I've used DownThemAll! for several months now, and have found it overall to be a valuable tool. It simplifies and speeds up downloading lots of files.
There are a few problems that leave it still not ideal, and stop me donating...
1. If I save an image, that's already been displayed in Firefox, DTA downloads it again instead of taking it from the cache. This doubles my used bandwidth, which I have to pay for.
2. A scheduler would make DTA much more useful to me, and others, as we have unlimited use during night-time hours.
3. There seems to be an addition in the latest versions, where a slide-up bar appears at the bottom of Firefox every time a file is queued. This is extremely annoying, to the point that I've almost stopped using DTA and it's caused me to write this review. It causes some websites, for instance DeviantArt, to redraw the page each time this bar appears and disappears. Please, please remove this thing!
Seems to work find but it lacks one major function that stand-alone download managers offer. The ability to enter and save a username and password for sites that require login for downloads such as hotfile and rapidshare.
DownThemAll! will happily use stored passwords and cookies of Firefox. There is no need for a separate password manager.
very useful... when it works.
pro's: When it works it significantly increases your download speed.
con's: Very inconsistent and unreliable, downloads fail a lot, causing unnecessary bandwidth usage, which is very irritating.
In short, use only for mid sized downloads, as it is too unreliable for large downloads, and is unnecessary for small downloads. It is unfortunate that it may even be considered too much of a hassle, this add-on had great potential.
** I would also like to point out that i am not splitting my downloads up into too many pieces, i have only ever tried a maximum of 5 segments, i usually try two or three.
Love this addon so much!! The downloads are SO fast!! Excellent work!! :)
Good work! This applet is the best complement for Firefox ;-)
This is the best download manager ever! It direct downloaded my latest Linux distro as fast or faster than bit-torrent.
