Meet the DOMCrypt Developer

Why was DOMCrypt created?

DOMCrypt was created after several iterations of writing web apps and extensions that allow web users to communicate or secure data before it is sent over the wire, preventing a 3rd party from seeing the contents. It is particularly difficult to exchange data or messages online without a third party collecting the contents.

If you are a web developer and are experimenting with DOMCrypt, please let me know. I will be more than happy to help you with any technical problems and would like to get as much feedback as possible from real-world use. email me: ddahl at mozilla dot com twitter: @deezthugs

What's next for DOMCrypt

DOMCrypt now has project status at Mozilla with bugs filed and a plan forming to get it into Firefox. There has also been a WebKit bug filed, so there is some momentum here. DOMCrypt can help solve several problems related to identity, security and user control of data online.
