I'm new here trying to see how this would work like
instead of just making undetectable but make ip as my own
When you install this addon, your real IP address doesn't vanish. That's not what the author is promising. So when you visit some page, it will get your real address. But the page will think that the real address belongs to a proxy server. That is because this addon sets the header as advertised. You can verify it by looking at the source code (see add-on homepage) or trust the other good grades. It seems the two one-star grades stem from ignorance.
This addon allows you to play a game of charade and the icon reflects it well.
Oh, if only we could give no star rating to denote an add-on sucks arse.
This add on makes you think it works. Go to your Add-Ons page find this bogus fake, click on options and it will tell you with a popup window the fake address. Go to a site like, whatismyip.com, and you'll see your own IP address.
Doesn't work! Maybe that's why the humor mask is the logo. Laughing at you for thinking to add it on.
My ip is showing just as ever.
Did not take the time if the maker tells it is a prank, but it is.
Just an other prank.
There are real ip-changers as a add-on, but Dolus is not one of them.
And all those people that are using Dolus is unbeliveable.
Dolus shows an other ip, but not like a proxy does or a vpn. Just a fake ip like the fake ip in ip-flood.
At least those guys tell you right away the ip changer is a prank.
People should read what they are installing.
Dolus does not change your ip.
Better take a proxy, that does change your ip-address.
Thank you for your great work! Love it. But it would be really much better if there was an option to define a set of IPs manually that by every restarting of Firefox (or a specific button), the IP is chosen from that set. Hope to see this ability soon :)
Not even Cloudflare seems to be able to stop this.
Seems to do what it says very well. A great add-on. However, an optional on/off button to stick on a toolbar or the menu would be nice as I've found having to enable when wanted is annoying. Yes it could be left on indefinitely, but I do notice and have confirmed via speed testing sites it slows the pings dramatically and full DL and UL speeds as it's bypassing my main ISP and diverting elsewhere in the world. Thus, an easy on/off switch would be very nice indeed.
Thank you. This does what it says. I know it doesn't replace a VPN but about half the IP Address locator sites can't see my real IP. However, I have one request. Can you make an option to select only random USA IP addresses? I notice that if the IP address selected is another country, Japan in my test, I am not allowed access to that site. If I renew the IP address and it picks a USA IP then I can access that site again. If this is not possible, that's ok, I understand. Thank you anyway. For privacy measures, I will still use this wonderful extension.
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that it helps you out. The feature you suggest sounds like a nice addition to the tool that I might look into implementing at some point.
In the meantime, you can find a random IP within a range assigned for the US (http://www.nirsoft.net/countryip/us.html) and configure Dolus to permanently use that, by going to the addon's configuration and set it in the "Use a permanent IP address" field.
Simply works in the background. No fuss, no muss.
Haha, successfully fooled boerse(dot)bz with this addon.
(Website blocks users from specific countries)
Practically no need to tinker with it. Only needs a whitelist and this add-on would be gold.
Hi Nerveri, thanks for the review! Can you tell me a bit more about what you mean with a Whitelist? Do you mean a whitelist of domains where the addon will not spoof the header?
Adding such a whitelist should be no big deal and I can look into implementing it when I get the time.
phantastic, much more easier than proxy or vpn.
Hi Pseudopolis, please be aware that this addon is NOT a replacement for a proxy or VPN. You are still sending you real IP address but there is a chance that the addon will fool logging systems and should only be seen as an extra layer of disinformation.
does what it says (adding an extra layer of obfuscation)
