Good add-on however can you remove the details on how to get around it from the description. If my kids go into 'Add-ons' in the Firefox options thing then they can easily see how to get around this.

Great But Needs an Update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I can't seem to find bug reporting. This addon is great but needs to be updated. Firefox's new Forget button allows you to delete recent history even with this addon installed.

Works well on the desktop application. Would be great if this would work on the mobile app!

Works as advertised. Does prevent deleting of bookmarks also, so make sure that's what you want. I was surprised initially that there was no apparent way to remove or disable this add-on, but have no fear, there is! Read below . . .

Does not disable private browsing on Firefox 31.0. I can add the button to the menu and get to a private browser without issue (caught my teenage son doing this). What good is it if it doesn't do what it advertises?

As far as I can tell, it does work on Waterfox 24.0, so I give it 2 stars for that.

I am not able to reproduce the problem. The extension works fine in Firefox 31 on windows 7 for me.

Can you be more specific? Which OS are you using? Which button are you adding to which menu? A Firefox menu? A Windows menu?

Thank you for making this add-on!! I do have a suggestion/solution, it would be wonderful if this add-on required a password (and/or verification of some kind) to disable it. This would make it easier for parents to ensure it stayed functional. Not sure if this is do-able but I think i speak for a lot of people in saying that it is nice to be able to control what goes on IN ONE'S OWN HOME.

Is there any solution yet for those that have discovered deleting history through the address bar?

I don't want to give out too much info since people might be on here to figure out how to "undo" the program, but please make it to where history can't be deleted in the address bar. I know you know what I mean :) I'm giving three stars for now. Otherwise, I love it.

Hi, it works great but I need step by step details on how to get rid of it please! I can't figure it out, I am not very computer savvy :/

Sorry, publishing a step-by-step removal guide will only help the google savvy kids. You need to start Firefox in Safe Mode is all I can say.

Im in Mozilla Safe Mode and I have no idea how to delete this app. im not seeing any option to delete it

If you do not see an option to disable all add-ons, you are not in Firefox Safe Mode.

Don't tell kids how to uninstall it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just downloaded it, seems to work great! My only concern is that you say how to disable it in the add-on's description in the Extensions page. I would delete that, because as the installers of the add-on, we already know how to disable it... Maybe even rename it something else and put the name of the add-on in a jpeg on this site so that we can 'view' the secret name and not read it, as reading it would allow any tech savvy kid to just google the name and that would bring them here, where the uninstall procedure is listed... Name it something that sounds vital, something no kid would want to disable. That's just what I would do, but then again I'm quite paranoid, lol. Great work!

How can i delete this from my add-ons?? I want my private browser gone but not from being able to delete history.

You can delete this addon only in Firefox Safe Mode.

Gave me hope! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I love the idea... but one huge flaw.....It says that it works with FF 20 and up. It does not work with FF23. I try to install it and I am told that its not compatible.

What version are you using on which OS? I cannot reproduce your problems.

Works great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I too can confirm that version 1.9 fixes the issue completely. By the way, any possibilities of getting this added to Chrome as well? Thanks so much! :-)

Great but we can still open private mode when clicking on the firefox's icon on the taskbar of Windows Seven or in the start menu in speed tasks. I hope you'll solve this :) .

Thanks for this report. I believe it is fixed in version 1.9 that I just submitted for Mozilla approval:

The add-on worked perfectly until I found a couple of problems. First is that you can easily use private browse by right clicking on a link and click "New Private Window". Or by right clicking on the Firefox icon on my desktop. Secondly you can easily uninstall the add-on and then reinstall. I use a mac so I don't know if this is only a problem with mac's but I would love if you could fix this problem. You did a really good job with this add-on I just hope the problems are fixable.
Thanks.

A big mess of pros and cons. Rated 3 out of 5 stars

So what it does, it does quite well. That is to help you monitor internet activity on your computer, at least if firefox is the only browser you make available. One add-on that both disables private browsing and prevents history from being deleted seems like a great package.
The downside is that there is no way to "cleanup" after I have checked the history. It builds up endlessly. I think this is the reason my firefox is now crashing more frequently then internet explorer ever did. If there was a simple way to turn this off and on than this wouldn't be a problem. The developers say it can be deleted by restarting in safe mode and running firefox with no add-ons. But I've tried this (on windows 7, firefox 19.0) and even in safe mode I cannot run firefox without add ons. There is just no option that suddenly appears by being in safe mode. Unfortunately, the only solution I can see is uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. And then I would end up reinstalling this anyway. What a hassle!
I hope the developers are reading this too. They say it is neccessary to prevent the add-on from being deleted, but this is not true. My add-ons are password protected by an add-on called public fox. If password protection is beyond their abilities, then perhaps they could reccomend Public Fox along with this.
With all that said, I do still use this add-on because even with all it's baggage it is still the best solution I've found. It's a shame that between Mozilla's Firefox, Google's Chrome, and Microsoft's Internet Explorer, none of them have been able to provide parental controls that actually work. So I settle for this. What a shame that there isn't a better solution then this third party add-on that makes the browser crash. I hope you read this too Mozilla. I expect better.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.7.1).

First off: a large history or using this add-on does not make Firefox crash. I never clean my history, and Firefox runs just fine. If you do not see the option to disable all add-ons then you did not start Firefox in Safe Mode. Note that starting Windows in Safe Mode has nothing to do with Firefox Safe Mode.

Password protecting the removal of this add-on and/or the deleting of the history is an interesting option I'll consider for a future version.

It can't be deleted once you have installed it. It hasn't the buttons "Disable" and "Delete" that all other add-ons have.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.7.1).

By design

This addon would not offer much protection if it could simply be disabled. To remove it, start Firefox in safe mode and disable all addons. It can then be removed from the addon manager.

I love this add on but my problem surfer didn't care about the history and now I have little kids that can pull up the UN-deletable history, how do I disable so I can clean up my computer. How do I start safe mode? I'm not finding it.

You can disable this addon by starting Firefox in safe mode and not loading any addons.
