I have closed Firefox too often by accident while pressing Ctrl-Q (Linux/Windows/Mac) or Command-Q (Mac). This is especially inconvenient in private browsing mode, because such tabs are not restored by session restore when you restart Firefox.
This add-on replaces the Ctrl-Q and Command-Q shortcuts, so that upon pressing these shortcuts, Firefox does not quit any more (macOS/Windows only, read on for Linux).
There are other add-ons, but they do not meet my needs:
- Ctrl+Shift+Q Quit only maps Ctrl-Q, and not Command-Q.
- CMD-Q Catcher does not work in private browsing mode.
And both of the above add-ons will cease to work in Firefox in 2017. This add-on is a WebExtension, and will therefore work forever in Firefox 48+.
This add-on does not work as expected in Linux, until bug 1325692 is fixed. It works on macOS and Windows. If you use Linux, see this reply for alternatives).
