  • This was one of my favorite add-ons... hope that it get's updated to work with the new version of Firefox
  • Was a very handy tool, miss it...
  • Very useful. Please update it soon
  • Was a big Firefox user for years...switched to Chrome for a couple years...looking to come back to Firefox, but this extension is a fav of mine and won't work with FF 57 (Quantum). Please update soon! Thanks!!
  • Not compatible with mult-process Firefox (e10s). This is major for me since multi-process has made Firefox much more usable for me.
  • Please make a WebExtension version.
  • Very useful.
  • is it compatible with multi-process? (e10s)
  • Works good.
  • This add on works fine with addresses, even "unusual ones" like "N5 6-7, 68161 Mannheim" and GPS coordinates like "49.483572,8.476893". As nomade0 desired and I would have also desired, too, the context entry is already named "Search Google Maps for" instead of "Map with Google" - good.

Just one thing missing: Optional search in Open Street Maps as 1) it offers much more detailed maps and 2) has coverage in some areas that are mostly "white" on Google Maps, e.g. mountain parts of the Alps, Iceland, or Peru. I'd also be happy to be able to provide a context menu name and the search string URL myself, just like for usual Firefox keyword searches.
  • Hi, cool extension. I am happy to be on board. Watch this page for further developments.
  • nomade0's review has led me not to install this addon quite yet. Google Maps' flexibility with what you give it is fairly wide. I can, for example, type in the name of a business and have it locate the listing entirely without address just based on its name. For this addon to place a roadblock in the way of user-to-Google by requiring something Google does not is problematic and unfortunately renders the addon useless for about 80% of the use cases I'd use it for.
  • I just tested this with some dutch adresses, and it works at advertised for me.
@Fred: TLD doesnt matter, google.com and google.nl will return the same results for the same query. However you need to only select the adress information, without any labels.
  • I've been using this add-on for a couple months now. Overall it's convenient, but it could easily be better.
    1) For some strange reason, the author has decided to prompt an error dialog box when the add-on detects that the text you have highlighted doesn't look like an address enough. Why not just send the query to Google Maps and let it deal with it? instead of preventing the search altogether... I'm the user, let me decide what I want to search with Google Maps, don't impose criteria on me, please. This renders the add-on useless in many instances.
    2) Instead of "Map with Google" in the context menu, I would suggest "Google Map it." My mind knows it's looking for Google Maps, so it takes a little bit more time and effort to scan for another text string.
  • This add-on is the reason why I dumped the Minimap Side bar. I use Google map regularly and this add-on make it easier.

    Please keep updating it.
  • This add on doesn't work. After highlighting an address and selecting to map it with Google, I keep getting an error that says "Please select the address first." Well I already did and it doesn't except it and it is a complete address with city, state, zip.

  • Doesn't work with Chinese :(
  • Can you please add an option to define the TLD of "maps.google"? Since I live in The Netherlands, I almost never get good results with your add-on. It would be great if I could search using "maps.google.nl"!

Thanks on behalf of the 6,5 billion people *not* living in the USA :-)
  • it's looks like needs a full address, because i highlight just street name and number, and through an error message :(
  • Must have! So nice to just highlight an address, secondary click on it, then display it's address in Google. Easy to use and does exactly what it's supposed to.
  • I use ubuntu linux with firefox, and this tool is awesome
