Great addon + a suggestion Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on really, thanks.

An option in preferences about "Open Dictionary tab in foreground/background" would be appreciated.

Great for 2nd language speakers Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is really useful for those of us who speak a foreign language, by which I mean a language we do not speak natively. (It is possible to have more than one native language.)

About the lack of documentation, this is a problem with almost all software these days, esp. free software. Free software people should spend a little less time writing so much software and a little more time explaining how to use it.

Finally, it would be really nice if a user could add a list of regular expressions to uninflect a word if it is not found in the dictionary. If I select the word "abgesagt", I want it to try "abgesagt" then "absagen" then "abgesagen" until it finds an entry that matches.

Searching via context menu is one of the most important functions in the browser, and DS does it with the best combination of simplicity and effectiveness.

I only wish that more than four engines could be added, and perhaps optional submenus.

Reply to Foad Amoon: search for the addon "WikiLook". It does what you ask, and I tried it successfully. (This DictionarySearch addon ended up being better for my needs, but WikiLook was the other good one, of the many I tried recently).

defintion in a pop up Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Can the definition of the word (of a default configurable dictionary) show up in a Pop up frame without any click, once high lighted after a certain delay?

Perfect search addition.

I was happily using Conquery before, until I upgraded to ff3.6 last week, and conquery became unusably out-of-date (conflicts with gesture extensions, after hacking the rdf).

I tried numerous replacements this week. All of them used a popout submenu, without an option to just embed the searches in the main contextmenu.

This addon is ideal for anyone looking to add 1-4 extra searches, with minimal overhead.

This add-on does not appear with the clicking of the Right mouse button or function when installed in Thunderbird 3.0.

Am I missing something.

Thank you,

Major Howland

DictionarySearch is wonderful!

But can you add an option to have a sub menu for when using more then 1 Dictionary?

However if the user is only using 1 Dictionary then do not use the sub menu!

Starting in Thunderbird add-ons DictSearch took me to this page which lists it as a Firefox add-on. 3.6.1 works fine in FX, but doesn't work in TB 3, and couldn't find a method to change the max version number in install.rdf simply because it reads it's for Firefox. Can "firefox" simply be changed to "thunderbird"?

It works great with 1 word searches; however, when searching for a term that consists of more than one word, (e.g. "prima facie", "a priori", ...) it replaces the white space with a '+', which works on TFD, but never on Wikipedia. To address this issue, I would suggest a custom search where the user can replace the white space with whatever character they choose.

It's a good add-on, though. I've been using it for years. Thanks!
