Icon only appears when tab duplicates are present, even on interface Customization, and after removal there's a vanishing notification. That's not enough explicit on addon description.
i like that the toolbar icon appears only when dupes exist. thank you!
I like it, I needed something like this - to show a button when duplicate tabs happen, but, please, change this ugly button icon and add an option to disable notification when duplicate tabs are closed.
I'm stumped - the "latest" version of dedup that works for me is .17 !!
Anything after that does not work at all!
However, I am using Pale Moon (optimized Firefox clone) browser, version 19.02 (later version of THAT does not support Tab Utilities as of this post).
No big deal - I just keep usin the old version of dedup. lol
Although a little ugly, this add-on gets the job done.
I didn't like the fact that it was on the add-on bar, so here's what you can do. Make sure two tabs are open that are duplicates so that the 'deDup' text appears in your add-on bar. Then, right click on the tool bar (where your back button is but on the chrome behind it.) You should see 3 check mark options for your toolbars, click customize. Now you can drag that 'deDup' to wherever you like. I have mine on the same row as my tabs. Sorry for long explanation, I saw a complaint and felt like I might address it here.
1. Needs to added to the upper toolbar as well (or instead of) the lower addon bar.
2. Need to be able to change the text colour, as currently it is always a very dark blue, which is not visible on my black theme.
Apart from these two points, it works great!
Missing background color is a bug, which has been fixed in version 0.18 (https://addons.mozilla.org/cs/firefox/addon/deduplicate-tabs/versions/0.18), which has not been reviewed yet.Concerning the upper tool bar, it is not that simple, and when the button is created dynamically, it would be too difficult. Unless somebody provides a working patch, I don't think I will fix it.
сбрасывает и ссылки с разными хешами (/#...), не удобно.
Not quite what I was looking for -- I need something that will automatically show a tab if it is already open, rather then just give me a button to close duplicates.
Edit, for clarification: When I type a URL into the location bar of a tab (and press enter), click on a link for that URL, or open a link from the desktop, and there is already another tab open with that URL, I want firefox to automatically activate that other tab, instead of creating a new one.
The closest that Firefox has gotten to this in its default behavior is that it will show "Switch to Tab" as one option in the list from the awesome bar when typing in a URL that is already open. This is great as a reminder, but it's not automatic, and it doesn't help when clicking on links.
I've heard that this is possible in chrome, but I've never used that. I'd originally checked out deduplicate-tabs because I thought it might have this functionality.
That's default behavior of Firefox since at least version 3, isn't it?
the button appears in extra bar (at botton of browser window) ONLY when there is a tab with the exact same url as any other
to improve it..., the owner of this addon should allow user option treat urls with anchor or query as the same.
trlkly is correct; when the button is activated, it closes the Add-on bar (I have at least 3 other widgets on the bar, and it is still closed).
The notification is not properly sized to the bar (at least not to my bar) ... it is too large. It would be nice to have a whitelist of URLs for which duplication is allowed.
I need a button that I can put on any toolbar.
It does what it's supposed to do, but it also closes the addon bar. It shouldn't do this if the bar was already open.
Still, it's a good idea. I hope you keep working on it.
Actually, I don't close the addon bar … it is an automatic when the last widget on the bar is destroyed.
