Customize FireFox title bar (window title) that is useful for software such as KeyPass for automating log on to various websites based on specific domain, URL, etc.
About this Add-on
My set-up is as follows. KeePass 2.x database on internal WebDav share (so I can save KeePass from multiple locations and sync transparently). Same file is read-only externally via NAT (very complex alias). This is so I can use it with Keepass2Android on my phone. I don't need this plug-in for Android as there isn't global auto-type. Internally I use this add-on with Firefox on Windows and Firefox on Linux. My option for this add-on is:
ff - {domainName} - {currentUrl} - {pageTitle}
All my web accounts have unique passwords (and possibly usernames if web service provider allows it) so that if one account is compromised, threat stops there. In KeePass, all my web accounts have unique passwords, as they should. In KeePass, my entries in title have "ff - <domain> - <url>". I match on the URL initially to ensure my KeePass auto-type does not type in my credentials to URL that hasn't been previously visited. It helps with security. If your web service provider changes URL or protocol (http/https), you have to update KeePass. I generally decide if I take of "<url>" from my KeePass window instead of updating it. That way global auto-type works. I don't do this for sensitive accounts, such as ones for domain registrars, etc. Those login pages need to match exactly, all the time.
Above is my set-up and I'm very grateful for original developer of this add-on to make this happen. I picked up developing this add-on only to bump compatible version numbers so it's easier to install when Firefox receives updates.
If your setup doesn't match above, or doesn't fit your set-up then this add-on is not for you! Please do not leave sub-5 star reviews. If you want it to do something different, do what I did: take the add-on, modify it and re-release it so others can use it.
