This addon does not work in FF 4.x i tried it in several setups (windows, mac) (wit firewall and without).
It just dont work.
License is listed as GPL but source is unavailable. No response from attempted contact with author.
Due to the security implications of this addon without source and peer review I would not use it.
I've had mixed success with this plug-in.
I'm running Firefox 3.5.8 on Fedora 13 & Firefox 3.6.9 on Windows 7 64. When I copy something on the Fedora box it shows up on the Windows but nothing I cut on the Windows box shows up on Fedora. Not sure why.
When I add a host on the Windows machine it does not save. Might be the problem. I'm going to build a Windows XP VM and see if it works any better. Might just be something with Windows 7.
I work surrounded by 5 computers on my LAN with various flavours of Windows and MAC O/S. To be able to cut and paste text between the machines is making my life SO MUCH EASIER. The technical support of also brilliant. I'm VERY HAPPY. Thanks Eric.
This is exactly what I have been needing. This add on makes me much more productive. I used to have to email links and data between my work laptop and personal laptop but am now able to copy and paste between them. A lot of times I would get an IM from work on my personal laptop with a link only accessible from within the internal network. I would have to wait for email to go between the systems to try and respond to the link. This ad don works very well and the responsiveness when I had a little compatibility problem between plugins the developer of the add on fixed it within hours.
(v0.914) Does exactly what it says it should do.
However.. that means it currently only copies TEXT but not bitmaps(images) -- which would be nice to have.
Also, having automatic 'push' of ALL 'Copy' and 'Cut' data across the 'Copy and Paste network' is a bit of an undesirable privacy issue for me -- it's fine if it's just 2 computers sitting in front of you but for example in an office or family home-use situation, this extension could be useful for quickly sharing a link or a piece of text to someone across the room or building, but you don't want to be HIJACKING the other peoples' clipboards ALL day, EVERY day, EVERY TIME you copy or cut something on your own computer. Therefore, an option to turn off automatic 'push' and instead use a toolbar 'send' button or similar menu command would be preferable.
Good idea and nice job though -- I love the 'Mirror contacts out' feature. (I added my own IP to my list before sending it out so all computers would have my IP too).
