Awesome Awesome Awesome Awesome
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there're a few small features left to make it perfect.
Ability to Name profiles easily.
Automatic profile swapping to match the tab(s) the cookies are for. Or at least some helpful indication of which tabs are for which profile. Maybe a colored tab, an icon, appending the extension name to the tab title, etc.
Hotkeys for easily switching profiles.
Maybe even gussy up the menu items w/purty icons. =)
This is awesome for myspace when you have multiple profiles. =)
Still not compatible with 3.0 RC-1.
A very good extension. But, it would be perfect if it remembered the profile used for each tab.
You would only switch the profile to open a new tab (or not) or to select a new profile in a opened tab, and then, extension would remember the before profile assign to that tab.
Many thanks and best regards,
Been using this for a long time now, I like the fact that you have to manually configure the profiles if you want to change them. It's not that hard to do & helps keep others from changing them, I mean in-experienced others. I really like this one!
Can you Add Shortcuts To Switch The Profiles, And Can I Please Modify It A Bit? But I Will Give The Developer The Credit That Is Deserved
E-mail your thoughts to email@example.com. I may already have your idea on the roadmap. Otherwise, we'll work it out so you can make the change!
I'm running Linux (Ubuntu 7.10) and this plug-in does not appear to work. The "Preferences" button under "Cookieswap" in the "Add-ons" window is greyed out.
Anyone know what could be wrong?
This is a great extension, very helpful! It is one of my Firefox favorites. One change I would like to see which would be even more helpful (and should be easy to do) is to make the icon more distinguishable among the different profiles.
For example, I often inadvertently leave the profile set to “profile 2” or “profile 3” when I really want it in profile one.
The tiny words saying “profile 1” etc in the status bar don’t catch my attention well enough. Changing the icon for each profile would help enormously. This doesn’t even have to be a change in the style of the icon, simply a color change would be enough.
For example, leave the icon” green” for “profile 1” as it is now, change the icon to “red” for ”profile 2”, “blue” for “profile 3”, etc. That would be a simple enhancement and would help enormously.
Great add-on. Very useful and works with Firefox 3 Beta 3.
When are we gonna have a compatible version with Firefox 3.5??
This is great for giving your girlfriend a separate cookie profile so you don't have to log back in to your GMail every time she checks hers on your computer! As others have said, once the "Manage profiles" screen is done this will be the perfect add-on. Thank you for writing CookieSwap!
great plugin. if possible like stated before a way to keep certain profiles locked on certain tabs or even FF windows ie profile1 on google, profile 2 on google in tab2 or window2, without having to manually switch back to profile1 and so on everytime you go back and forth.
also if there were keys to hit to switch back n forth thru profiles
other than that its great
I don't like it. First time I used, it messed up my other cookies. I have to put all my username and p/w back to other website. It was like i'm deleted all my cookies.
This thing have good potential but not given enough tutorial or chance to use it properly especially for a beginner.
This is by far the best extension (for me anyways), It helps me a lot, anytime I want to change the account I just select it and that's it... so thank you.
Thank you so much for this extension. It has been invaluable to me when dealing with my school's poor excuse for an online learning environment. The session frequently times out, and won't let you just login again without closing your browser and/or clearing your cookies. But I'm often working with other tabs and can't close the browser, so this extension allows me to just switch cookie profiles and log right back in. Thanks again!
This add-on has solved my problem of managing multiple accounts.
However, there is a suggestion I would like to make:
It would be great if the a browser tab remembered the profile it was opened in. For example: I login to a google account on Tab1 with profile1 and then login to another google account with profile2 on Tab2. Now when I switch back to Tab1 my profile is shown as Profile2 and I am looged out of my google account. I can work around this currently by changing profile to profile1 and refreshing the page. However, this problem could be solved if the tab remembered the profile.
This is an excellent idea, but it could have been done better. If you put the cookies per tab, it would make it all the difference and really make it a 10/10.
This is very good. But I think it could be expanded by adding different cookie settings to individual tabs so we can double log on a website more easily.
If you switch between profiles frequently like I do, CookieSwap is indispensable. I can't wait for the manage profile feature to be ready. Thanks, Steve!
I do agree with the previous reviewer about making the Manage Profiles functional. However, I think there's one more thing that would make this extension even better: if different tabs could have different profiles set, or maybe different Firefox windows. Recently, IE has stopped loading a certain site for me (for some reason) and I think if this feature was implemented, it would be a great replacement... A superior one. Until then, good job anyway!
I've never felt compelled to write a review of a Firefox plug-in before, but this one takes the cake. I maintain several Google accounts, and switching back and forth between them has been an enormous pain, until now. Once the 'Manage Profiles' feature is implemented, this one will be a 10 in my book. The temporary work-around to renaming profiles provided in the dialog was easy enough to do until then.
