just wanna say this addon is brilliant .. thanx
Great add-on. Makes collecting pictures during research so much easier.
This is an excellent add-on that works perfectly. It is, in it's own way, as major as 'downthemall!' It has already saved me an incredible amount of time. A tool for doing single, one at a time image downloads, and sorting them on the fly. It fixes one of the things I've always felt was lacking in Firefox. That is that it is difficult to change the download location often, and reliably. Here is the solution.
I have just been reading some of the add-on developer tutorials and now I have an idea of just how much work must have gone into something like this.
I have 70 add-ons installed and this is one of the top 5 in importance and usefuless.
It is so great, that it makes the tedious job of saving image files 1 at a time feel like fun!
Same here, coming from "save image in folder", this extension have almost all of what was possible with save image in folder, and more : fast save with Ctrl - Right Clic is a must (clearly the one feature from Opera that I was missing). One request though : would it be possible to still display the file saving dialog, for some folders only ? (in order to rename the saved file).
EDIT : Thanks, I've just tried it, and it's almost perfect (ticket opened). Concerning Opera, Ctrl-LMB to save image is native, and had been like this for as long as I remember it (which is more than 10 years...)
nerbrume! Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I was really happy with Ctrl-RMB too. I did not know that is comes from Opera, could you elaborate? Is it from an Opera extension?
Regarding adding customized Save Image As... dialogs. You are in luck. This is already in the pipeline.
An issue has been created: https://github.com/choobin/cmis/issues/8
I am just about to push the update to github. After /a lot/ more testing I will update the AMO version.
If you would like to try it out early please refer to the following page: https://github.com/choobin/cmis/wiki/How-to-test-the-latest-update-from-github.
Great add-on which streamlines saving images to specific folders. One issue to note is that the prefix: '%DATE' does not save files with a time stamp, it literally saves with '%DATE...
UPDATE: Thanks to the prompt (and very thoughtful!) response from choobin, I managed to install the latest build (unreleased) and I must say it is simply wonderful! This add-on allows you to save images to specific folders within directory trees and even enables you to customize the labeling in the context menu. For me, the icing on the cake is the time-stamp prefix which eliminates the hassle of manually typing a custom title. Kudos to choobin for his fantastic effort!
Tthe %DATE/%ALT variables have not made it to the release version. I plan to submit it in the next few fays. If you would like to test the latest build (including %DATE/%ALT) check the following page.
WoW!!! I just discovered this program after the developer of "Save image in Folder" dragged his feet in supporting his own program to run in FF18. This program "Context Menu Image Saver" is a far superior program. It's easy to use and the developer clearly is actively engaged in supporting it! Thank you so much for your hard work and great offering here.
Glad it works perfectly in Firefox 18. Kudos!
Can you please add the following (if possible)?
- for a selected folder, add option to "open" the folder for the user to navigate to saving into a sub-folder. For example, I have a folder path called "Animals", and sub-folders (cats, dogs, bats, horses, etc). I don't want to make a folder path for each sub-folder as I have 20+ in some for art reference.
- An option to edit/create a folder path from the context-menu
- A way for us to export/import our paths for backup reasons (just in case).
- Add a status bar message (just to show it was saved).
Thanks for the Feedback. I am glad that you find the extension useful. I think all of your suggestions are feasible. I have created new issues for them so I keep them fresh in my memory. If you would like to provide further input and/or check on their progress take a look at the following pages.
The only thing missing is a option to automatically add the date and time to the filename. For example as an additional option when the file already exists "save as unique date time filename".
Or allow placeholder in the prefix field.
Thanks for the feedback.
You have inspired me. I have started to look into updating the way the prefix string is handled. It should now be possible to add a customized timestamp to the prefix of a file. It still needs some testing/discussion before I send it to off to AMO. However, it you would like to provide further input and/or check it out see the following pages.
and for testing,
Perfect, just perfect
It works and it is possible to mix submenu with direct saving. This is excellent!
But instead of given prefix it adds 'Save Image to "GivenName"' and because quotes (") aren't allowed as file names it can not be saved.
But it is not fatal. I manually changed it to what I wanted and it works.
I think, you can easily fix this minor problem.
In addition, I think you shouldn't add "Save Image to" - the given name is enough, especially if I intend to save link and not image.
But the user interface is very friendly and simple to use.
P.S. It saves links as html files. If it is so, it can save the current page to, is not? So, it can be used by clicking the current page in any place (not on image or link) and even from tab context menu. Or I'm wrong?
Thanks for notifying me of the prefix issue. You are correct, it was trivial to fix. An update should be approved very soon.
Regarding "Save Image to". I see your point. My main issue here is that the name of the add-on contains "Image Saver". Saving links is still at a very experimental stage. When I am happy with the link saving I might need to fork a new add-on called "Context Save" or something that does not contain the word "image". Any suggestions? :D
Не поддерживает кириллицу в названии папок и описании меню.
Thanks for the heads-up. During the previous update I stuffed up the way context items were handled (my bad). The latest update supports international character sets again.
p.s. No need to add a pop-up confirmation for saved photos, that would be annoying (unless it's optional of course). This add-on is brilliant as is :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH.I PRAY YOU.I LOVE IT SO MUCH.VERY VERY USEFUL.VERY SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL.
The author added more save options (overwrite, confirm, rename) and now this add-on saves me an hour a day, at least. Absolutely the most useful Firefox extension for me!
Great feature of quicksaving one image with Ctrl+RMB. But it has one lack - it doesn't shows any popup message with successful save confirmation.
great addon: useful and easy-to-use, but please revert to original behavior of automatic rename of files, or option for this behavior, as a previous reviewer suggested!
thank you, very useful extension for me)!
Saves a lot of time when downloading images, especially when you use the Ctrl-RMB to save to the last directory. I haven't found any problems.
Great addon. Btw, Ctrl-RMB can't be disabled thru the preferences in Fx 4.0?
This extension is my old dream... Thank you!To use Ctrl-RMB for the first time, you will need to restart FireFox after the addon installation, guys.
It is Just fabulous!! Really just what I needed, not less not more!!
Just remember that the folders came on top of the window that appears when you right click!!
So ein Geniales Addon hatte ich schon ewig gesucht das man mit einem Klick ein Bild speichern kann einfach genial wenn man es mal mit mehr als nur einem Bild Zutun hat.
Fantastic addon. Keep it Up!
love it really
