nice addon!
Would be great to be able to select a folder out of the bookmarks and show just 1or more selected folders to show!

Any chance you could add that feature.

Keep up the great work!

helpful to quickly access bookmarks Rated 3 out of 5 stars

this extention is really great for accessing the bookmarks if you store bookmarklets there.
It would be better if you could choose which folder in the bookmarks folder to acccess, that way you could access quickly a folder of only bookmarklets. This would make things even faster and look cleaner.

(Edited after asked feature in v1.7.1 was added.)Thanks. Useful add-on. I plan to use it with custom bookmarklets, which now can (maybe) be applied on link or image we are hovering over.
Anyone knows the Javascript parameter name which would hold the URI we are hovering over?

Why didn't you visit my support page and requested that feature? The modification would have taken 5 minutes of my time, it would have been done while you were staying on my site...but now you already wrote your review.

Edit: Sorry, I assumed you would look in the add-on about box (right-click and visit homepage). A fixed version 1.7.1 is available there. I also began working on a version that hopefully matches most other requests here.

This is really very handy, especially when combined with the 'Add Bookmark Here' add-on. Combine the two, and it becomes simple to file away bookmarks both quickly and precisely.

It's good, but it could be *great* if only there were more options available. It would be nice, for example, to be able to choose whether the submenu should appear at the top or the bottom of the context menu. Also, as many others have said, the ability to choose a different folder as the root would be nice, given how much variation there is in how people prefer to organize their bookmarks (although for those whose bookmark ontologies are based on Unsorted Bookmarks, the "Unsorted Bookmarks Folder Menu," which puts the Unsorted Bookmarks Folder inside the Bookmarks Menu, clears that problem right up.)

It's me again :)
Just to point out that a compatibility issue appears with an extension I've installed after 'Context Bookmarks', called 'Personal Menu'. Removing/reinstalling the latter confirmed the issue was in that pair. When together, 'Context Bookmarks' displays the bookmarks, but under the 'Context Bookmarks' line in the context menu rather than on its right.
As always with compatibility issues, hard to share responsibilities. I tend to think that the cause is rather on the side of 'Personal Menu'

Now this is *really* handy, and works perfectly on Fx 3.5.7 here. Wow, I never would have thought this would be such a relief. Nice!

Great add on Rated 4 out of 5 stars

thanks so much for this, was looking for something similar for a long time. Thanks to a fellow redditor to point me in the right direction.

Any thoughts on allowing you to move it to the top of the right click context to save on mouse movements?

I really like this. It's tiny, simple and does just what it says it does without complications.
Thanks!

Needs a little work Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is just what I was looking for, I finally got rid of all those toolbars that mostly just waste space, but why is left click, middle click, and right click all screwed up, it's kinda annoying, are you going to fix this?

I like the basic concept, but i was disappointed to find that the bookmarks seem to be disabled if you've already selected text?

I have bookmarklets that search other sites based on the selection, so this defeats what i was hoping the add-on would do for me.

Install version 1.6

With that version bookmarks are shown with text selections too

Follow the 'View All Versions' link at the bottom of the addon page.

Useful and Easy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice addition to my ability to browse full-screen. I just got this a few days ago, and it is quickly becoming a habit.

Seems to work without a hitch in 3.5.6.

Some things you may want to add to the description which seem obvious, but aren't to us dummies:
1.To see the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Bookmarks Menu, you must uncheck the clutter-free option.
2. To open a bookmark in a new tab, Ctrl+click.

Thank you for a really useful tool.

By the way, if anyone isn't already using NettiCat's Better Privacy, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Usability Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a good idea, and makes fullscreen browsing easier. By good I mean that one of the flaws with the Bookmarks Toolbar has been lack of keyboard accelerations, you can't even TAB to it from the address bar...

Two options that I think would make your addon GREAT would be:

1. An ability to change the root (my bookmark ontology is kept in Bookmarks Toolbar, except the Unsorted).

2. An option to open bookmark in New Tab

#2 being pretty essential in my opinion, as the user must CTRL-T/N before opening the bookmark. I notice pressing CTRL-ENTER on an item will not perform similarly in the context menu (or toolbar) as the Bookmarks Sidebar, making this an unexpected point of frustration.

Nice work, I hope you consider my niche ideas!

Useful, simple, does what it says. Nice work.
But, Firefox says the current version isn't compatible with 3.5.5
Like some other reviewers, I'd love to be able to pick and choose which bookmarks to put in the context menu.
Thanks for this excellent add-on!

Context menu text GONE! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Using Firefox version 3013. as of yesterday my context bookmarks suddenly displays only folders (icons) of my bookmarks. Only 3 of the 7 actual folders that I have in my bookmarks display correctly. I've done nothing (settings, additional add-ons, etc) to intentionally change this, but I cannot get back my text. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled the add-on. i'm not even getting tooltip balloons. HELP ! If I can't get this figured out, I'll have to uninstall the add-on.
Thanks!!! It doesn't help that there is no support for this, either.

This is no issue of ContextBookmarks

ContextBookmarks usually work fine with your Firefox version. Most likely some of your persistent Firefox data has been damaged/corrupted. This can happen to Firefox in rare cases. Best advice is to reinstall Firefox or to try a new/empty profile and to reinstall all addons.

This is perfect but since firefox 3.5, clutter free no longer works. :(

To Solid Knight: if you have tab mix plus, you can configure all that already

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4).

For me the 'Clutter free' feature still works fine

with Firefox 3.5.2, all the extra items are properly removed. Please consider to file a more detailed bug report at my home page, support section.

It'd be great if right-clicking the bookmark would open it in a new tab. Middle-clicking does work but it leaves the menu up so you have to click off of it to make it go away.

This is pretty great, although I have one suggestion. I've noticed that there aren't any add-ons that allow you list one single bookmark in the right-click context menu, as opposed to branching out the entire bookmarks list.

Would that be possible, perhaps? I have a piece of javascript saved as a bookmark that I use very frequently. It would be great if it could be configured to show up on the root of the right-click context menu, where I could reach it much quicker than having it on my bookmarks toolbar. Thanks!
