Not working for me:( Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This used to be one of my favorite addons but for some reason the zoom slider no longer works for me:(
Any chance of a fix soon?

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to keep up with this addon. I'm sorry it isn't working for you anymore! :-(

Because I've only used dubian I only have experience on FF 17 and 3.6 (and still prefer 3.6 fork Swiftfox), but Content Preferences is one of my favorites - much because I need to zoom text on pages a lot. Thanks.

the character encoding setting doesn't work for firefox 12. The support site is down and I can't file a bug report, but here's how I fixed it: unzip the xpi file, open the file content/charset/controller.js, change SetForcedCharset to BrowserSetForcedCharacterSet, zip everything and reinstall the xpi.

Heh. Amusingly, I don't care at all about what this addon was designed for - I'm generally happy displaying most everything as the same size and using unicode. But this finally fixed an issue I'd long had with Firefox, going back many versions, that it kept defaulting back to decoding everything as ISO-8859-1, despite me repeatedly telling it to default to UTF8. So 5 stars for that.

Essential add-on, especially for those with poor vision. It offers a sliding toolbar so you get any size that works for you, applies it to the entire page and the whole site you're on, and then remembers it for the next time. I'm hoping it will work on Firefox 4 -- I've been waiting to upgrade to 4 because of this add-on. I note that a few people have had problems with it, but I have never had a single problem with any site I've been on.

my favorite text-zoom add-on. Tested about 5-10 different ones, content preferences clearly wins for me.
Why:
-I like a zoom slider that I can put next to the adressbar best.
-after a restart it remembers the zoom level for each page. this is not so with all the other zoom add-ons.
-the zoom level also applies for other sites on the same domain. this is not so with all the other zoom add-ons.

Text zoom is a brilliant idea!

Could you update this extension to firefox 3.6? I always use this one and I really need it.

This add-on gave me the "firefox image cannot be displayed because it contains errors" problem AND the inability to view .PDFs. Uninstalled.

Tool bar button? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great add-on...only thing it is missing is a toolbar button for easier access.

Installed on two computers...one with Win Vista and one with Win XP... same annoying box saying you need to resend info on 'sign-in' sites such as eBay, Mozilla Forums, etc. Uninstalled on both. Since I had set page size globally, I find out now I will have to reinstall to reset unless I want to use the old ctl -/+ method on each site.

This is great. Solved a long running issue re Character Encoding on a site I visit a few times a day.

I've tried with Yahoo! Calendar and it doesn't work right, tries to resubmit all forms all the time so I had to uninstall.

Good, but not so good for the sidebar Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The functionality is good, but i agree with others that a sidebar is not a convenient place to access it. There are already many sidebars for which keeping them visible makes more sense.
Besides, the site-specific tab should be focused by default.

Exactly what I needed and more. Much more user friendly that the java console or page zooming. Would like it integrated with the mouse possibly, but overall really good!

Thank you for the addon. Implemented into Mozilla default option (page style/no style) does not work, but with this addon it is ok.

This Could Be A Fantastic Add-on... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Unfortunately, Content Preferences suffers from a lack of options *and* causes an annoying dialogue box to continually appear.

My first complaint: I was only able to access this add-on by going to View --> Sidebar --> Content Preferences. (I couldn't locate any other way to pull up the extension, so if alternatives do exist, they need to be made extremely obvious.)

I hope future versions include a variety of access methods, such as a toolbar button, right-click/context menu, access keys and/or a status bar menu, just to name a few.

My second complaint: That annoying dialogue box. When I have this extension enabled, I'm constantly confronted with the "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action... that was performed earlier" alert. I suspect this is happening because I've switched encodings, however having to OK the dialogue box so frequently becomes tedious.

Aside from these problems, this is a pretty helpful add-on. I installed it because of character encoding issues I began experiencing when I upgraded to Firefox 3. This extension solves the issue quite nicely, but not as easily as I'd hoped.

I'm giving it 3 stars for now; with a few improvements, it could be worthy of a 5-star rating!

This extension, used with Firefox 3.1 nightly builds, messes up the comments (makes text run together) on Digg.com.
