CLIQZ- search directly in your browser 2.11.1
CLIQZ integrates an innovative quick search engine into Firefox. Spare yourself the detour via search engine pages. With privacy enhancements such as anti-tracking, CLIQZ gives you control over your data.
About this Add-on
Direct: In most cases, you already have a good idea of where you want to go, where you can do something specific or where you can get the information you need. Searches like these with a view to navigating make up the lion's share of web searches. And you can now carry out these searches from within your browser. This is where CLIQZ differs fundamentally from conventional search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo first take you to their own pages. Once there, you have to scan through a long list of search results and ads to find the most appropriate hit. With CLIQZ, you can search without this detour.
Fast: Simply click on a recommendation from the short selection in the drop-down menu and you'll be taken straight to the relevant website. For popular websites, there are smart CLIQZ abbreviations. Instead of visiting the relevant homepage and then working your way step by step to your actual destination, you can go straight to the right place.
Smart: With smart CLIQZ for direct replies, you can find what you're looking for even more quickly and easily. They provide you with a wide range of information within your browser – from flight status to weather. And with the smart CLIQZ for news sites, you're always up to date.
Should you need more or different search results, you can easily redirect your query to other search engines.
How it works
While you're typing search terms or web addresses, a clearly structured selection of website recommendations is shown in the CLIQZ drop-down menu below the entry field. The recommendations are based either on our own search technology or on your Firefox history or bookmarks. As a result, you can find what you want quickly and discover new sites, but also have convenient access to your favourites.
Simply click on a recommendation and you're taken straight to the relevant website. If you'd like to open the website in a new tab, click on the logo to the right of the recommendation. Not the right website after all? Clicking on the grey button at the left of the brwsoer bar takes you back to the recommendations so that you can try out the next one. Still not found the right one? Place the cursor in the entry field and press the "Enter" key. Your search entry will then be forwarded automatically to your standard search engine set in Firefox.
YOUR NEW HUB
CLIQZ offers its own browser start page that you will see on opening a new window or a new tab. The start page includes speed dials for your most visited websites (excluding websites from privat sessions, of course). You can manually add and remove speed dials. CLIQZ keeps you up-to-date by showing you a mix of headlines from popular news sources and your personal favorite news sources.
Prefer your “old” Firefox start page? You can switch back at any time via the CLIQZ Control Center (see the “Q” symbol in the browser bar or your settings menu).
