Excellent add-on. But when I zoom the font size on a page, it doesn't remember that. I've to zoom on every single page, using FF 3.
Can you give a x86_64 version? Thanks.
x86_64 and mac version can be found here:
It's a shame.
extremely handy on my linux system... thanks!
Realmente lo necesitaba para la version 3.0, estaba a punto de volverme a instalar una version previa de Firefox, Gracias!!
Forget my last note ...it work fine!
I installed in the previous version, FF 2.0 and it worked well, but not this time in FF 3.0 . Seems that there is some problem with the character coding .
Hope that this will be fixed soon. thanks.
some problems of compatibility exist for displaying compiled chinese
I have rewrite some code related with topics and index parsing. I hope the new version will solve your problem.
Really nice tool. BTW, it might be better to add some simple "user guide" here, since "View -> Slide Bar -> CHM Reader" isn't that easy to find. I just found this path in above posts :-)
not compatible with firefox build in osx.
For those wanting to view chm files in osx there is a app called chmox on sourceforge.net .If you are running intel chip there is a universal binary that works even though it say ppc in the file name
One of my friend has try to build a mac version. If there's no problem, a mac version will be released in the next two weeks.
if nothing else works on linux, type chm:file://filename.chm in address bar.eg:- chm:file:///root/Desktop/filename.chm
i need help using this add on. I am running a linux os, and did everything that other people suggested like changing the firefox to firefox chm:%u and clicking on the file tab and choosing open chm file to open the file. BUt nothing happens, firefox opens a new tab but does not show anything on the page. what do i do? please help me.
CHM Reader not runs on some distribution such as Fedora Core which enables SELinux by default. Please disable SELinux and try again.
Pretty good plugin so far. If you would like to open the CHM files from Nautilus (the windows manager for Gnome), then right click on the CHM file and select "Open with other Application..." from the context menu.
The "Open with" dialog should now be visible. Select "Firefox" and expand the "Use custom command" option. Replace "firefox" with "firefox chm:%U" and apply the command by clicking the "Open" button.
The CHM file will now open in Firefox and any time afterwards when a CHM file is double clicked.
this addon and manoramosmz's comment just saved my life :)
I knew someone in the Mozilla community had this resolved. Thanks Mr. Li for your work.
I only suggest that you add a reference in the Add-on page on how to use it. Most people (including me) think that just double clicking the chm file will do the job (and we know that you have to go to the View --> Sidebar --> CHM Reader)
Hope this addon can support firefox 3 as early as possible! because I can't use firefox 3 without this addon!
I'd love to be able to open chm files from windows without having to manually open them through the Firefox menus. Is there a command line switch I can use?
I test the following in Ubuntu Gutsy\r\nStep1.just create a bash file, type the following:#!/bin/bash\r\nfirefox \"chm:file:///$1\"\r\n\r\nsave it as firefoxchmview.sh(or other name you prefered)\r\n\r\nStep2.then in the terminal:\r\nchmod u+x firefoxchmview.sh\r\n\r\nStep3.right click you chm file, open properties, select \"Open With\" tab, click \"add\" button, in the new window called \"Add Applicatin\", expand \"use a custom command\", browse to you script, then click add button, then click close button.\r\nNow, you can double click you chm file to open it in firefox
It doesn't work on openSUSE 10.3 x64... :(
Can it be done? :)
looking forward, cause i really LUV FireFox...
Reading comments, I get the feeling that some people may not using it right.
To open sidebar for CHM, go to View -> Sidebar -> CHM reader. Then either click on the Open CHM file icon on the sidebar or File -> Open CHM File.
I was looking forward to being able to read chm files on my Macintosh, but the installer quits with the explanation that it is not compatible.
I can open chm with CHM reader in linux, but the left navigation of chm file is not showing. Is that a bug or something wrong with my chm files or firefox.
PDF 是通过插件程序单独下载、显示的。PDF 也确实可以分页下载。以后会尝试实现下载后直接打开的功能。
this version can not be installed under firefox build type (Linux_x86_64_gcc3).
Great extension, lets you open CHM files easily on linux and lets you zoom CHM files on Windows, which the default CHM browser doesn't. The only thing on my wishlist would be to open the file directly through the file > "open file" entry, instead of having a separate file > "open chm files" one.
That's all, great extension!
