This is a unique add-on, which works fine stand-alone and integrated with ScrapBook. 'Browser Turns Editor' is absolutely necessary in daily work. But it is not compatible with the version of Firefox 20. Huge request to resume work on this program. I think that lots of people will be grateful to you also. Thank you.
A wonderful and VERY needed add-on - BUT:
All one gets is 'file not found' and searching for browser_turns_editor-1.1.0-fx.xpi produces only this site for results.
It seems the author has vanished along with the extension...?
This is what I exactly need.
Great tool! This simple edit feature is 'must have' and is very easy to use. I use it on Ubuntu PCs with Firefox 3.6.*
With this add-on I can add text, comments to some page and save it for later use as my template or note.
Another use, can load template html page and fill it with my one text.
Now there is Firefox 7.0.1 and I would like to have version of this editor for every future Firefox version.
Also I noticed that this editor is not available for about six month now. Lack of new version for new Firefox and lack of availability for download cost one star.
"Download Error -288"
Has this been abandoned? I keep getting apache errror messages that the file has not been found. Have also tried the older versions with the same result.
I just downloaded and installed this add-on, so I have little to speak about it, (I will return and adjust my stars, should my experiences warrant a reduction, otherwise this concept alone, if it works well, is worthy of the five stars i gave it now) but I DO agree with Dave1235 and the others, who feel this has great potential, if given the time and feedback to base the further development on, and eventually making it an internal function of Firefox? We can only hope. ;-D
With that said, it would be a great help to the developers, and all of us considering any add-on for that matter, if those who are expressing more than their appreciation for what it does, or how it does it, then the simple expression of their experience is fine, however, whenever any of the reviewers are mentioning any kinds of problems, or deficiencies, then it would be of great use to the rest of us, if you also mentioned your Firefox version, as well as operating system, RAM, Processor, and any other aspects of their system that is unique to them, (and whatever that particular PC's market share is, for all those who are using this same PC) those of us who have encountered and resolved said issue, either by making changes to their browser settings, or other parameters of their environment, or even emailed in a bug that was easily resolved by the developer, it would help the rest of us to avoid that same scenario, especially if the resolutions were not the type requiring any internal or compiled application changes, but were instead resolved by simple environmental changes, or otherwise non-code edits.
Then this would be much more useful for those trying it for the first time, as well as help the developer address any issues that show a pattern from those using the same make/model PC, or version their O/S is.
In short... if you found there was a deviance from the described functionality of ANY add-on, then include as much of your particular system's hardware/software/OS, as possible that also related to use of the add-on, and we will all get much higher quality add-ons SOONER than what i have read in reviews of add-ons in general.
So by all means, ELABORATE, and we all benefit, leave all this out, and the developer ends up spending more time replying to email complaints reducing their development time drastically, because each person is calling in the same issue and the developer is responding to them, when there is no handy central place people can find what others have done or what the developer told them to do to resolve whatever the issue was.
Hope this turns out to be a helpful addition to all future reviews, and maybe prompt some exiting ones to edit in additional information. Thanks to all that cooperate in this manner on any Add-on!.
This is a great tool! I use it to store, tweak and annotate tutorials and notes, mostly data created by the scrapbook addon. I save the results as maff files, which are very handy. Browser Turns Editor and Scrapbook is a fantastic combination for my needs. I always wished that scrapbook would have provided real editing functionality. Now this is possible.A huge thank you from my side! Please keep this great tool alive!Michael
I have found that I can save the edited page if I use save "Web page, complete", but not if I use save "Web page, HTML only".
But if I then load the page which I saved completely, I can then use save "Web page, HTML only" to save the edited page! A rather roundabout way of just saving the html.
Is there a more direct method?
An interesting project. Mostly no cursor appears with Win 7 64 bit.
Normally I don't even like WYSIWG type web editors but this makes things just so much easier, i cant help but use it! You deserve serious praise for this one man. Amazing work! btw is your source code open?
I did have to click on a tab and then switch back to the Editor for it to work -- but that is not a big deal. To highlight texts, I suggest to also have the Yooper add-on.
I have a suggestion that I know would be really hard, but it would make this addon UBER!! Make it so when you edit a page you can save it in a sense that whenever you go back to that site, the changes you made are applied to it. If you did that this addon would become instantly my favorite addon of all time!!
I can not agree more with Dave1235. It is a great add-on, and highlighting ability would definately put the icing on top.
Again great add-on. Been having difficulty saving the changes even after tuning the Design Mode off. Tried HTML Only, complete, Text & All Files.
MHT however works. So post your observations & solutions in this review.
Great idea; would love to work with this but it is unusable on my Mac: there is no text cursor, there is no way to define standard styles (H1, blockquote etc.)
This addon works well with Scrapbook! This way you can even save your modified versions for later viewing and use it for taking notes, sketching ideas, …
I like it. This addon has a lot of potential. On July 13 he said, 'More updates coming soon". I personally would like a way to highlight text with a color. I'm surprised this feature don't come standard with a program like Firefox.
Is there a way to add a column or columns to a table? Nice Add-On by the way.
Check out this image.... To add a column to a table, first click on the table, then click on the small triangle pointing in the direction in which you wish to add the column. To remove a cloumn, click on the small cross.
very good! thanks!
Very useful add-on. It works fine, haven't had any trouble using it!
Great addon. Add ability to move or hide button please. Thank you
A suivre
Is there any way to move the pencil icon? I tried right clicking that part of the screen, then clicking "customize" and dragging it to a different place, but that did not work.
