Doesn't work with the latest update (36)
Not working on FF26
This addon will no longer work in new nightly builds of firefox as keyword.url has been removed. I'm hoping that this can be updated to add back the missing functionality, While i never used this addon because i would just add it manually in about:config myself this is still a great addon that did it's job for its time. Thank You! Bug 738818
One of the fav features of Firefox! Amazingly accurate :)
I cant believe firefox ever got rid of this feature. This *tiny* add on brings back the functionality that truely made firefox stand out from the rest. Thank you!
Flawless Tiny addon @1kb , highly recommend it ..
Very convenient. I used to have to look up the Browse-by-name URL and manually change the setting in about:config every time I set up Firefox, since that's not one of the "Preferences" that Firefox Sync changes. This addon makes it much easier to keep my favorite behavior on all my computers!
A useful convenience addon. You can re-enable browse by name by going into about:config and changing keyword.URL to "http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=", but installing this is simpler.
Why on earth did firefox remove this feature!?
Thank you for this addon! Please make it restartless!
Well the best thing would be for Mozilla to add this feature back to standard.
does not work with firefox 6
Thank you for making the awesome bar awesome again
works just like its supposed to, thanks! like Menilik mentioned, you should add some keywords to the page so it can be googled more easily. i got here from reading an article about how the address bar search was mistaken for 'im feeling lucky' search.
to delete this search behavior:
1. about:config in the address bar
2. agree to be careful
3. double-click on keyword.URL
4. clear the value and OK
Why the **** did mozilla remove this feature
A lot of people think firefox 3.6 used to do the 'I'm feeling lucky' search option. Many people (myself included) searched for things like 'why does FF not take me straight to facebook when I type it any more ect. ect'. Long story short if you wish more people to find your addon, you need to include words like these in your description (or title).
On the add-on I LOVE IT! Why on earth did Mozilla take away this option! It was the best thing about the browser - not having to type .com/ .co.nz in the address. I started using IE after I upgraded :(
When I use more that two words, the Firefox show the message:
"Alert: The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."
Hey, how to revert location bar behaviour (default forwarding request to google) after un-installing this addon?
This was a pretty important feature to most users I know (Including my mother!) and was what differentiated Firefox from Chrome.
Thumbs down from this no longer being included!!! Brilliant addon.
An excellent addon by Ehsan, as usual. And it's restartless!
Thank you Ehsan for creating a quick extension to bring back this nice feature, and thanks for streamlining out the JetPack SDK bloat and making this thing under 1KB upon request in only a matter of minutes. This is now quite possibly the most simple extension code in existence. Wonderful! :)
I've never had very much luck with the "I'm feeling lucky" search, but I guess this is a good add-on for those who are luckier than I.
So glad to have this feature back, it makes my awesome bar more awesome again!
I understand why the decision was made to switch location bar search to a default search instead of a "feeling lucky" one, it's good for an interface to be predictable.
Nevertheless, I love this addon, because I've become awfully dependent on browseByName. :)
