by mecki78, 7 years agoAlways has been the best RSS Reader and still is the best. I missed it a lot when there was the WebExtension switch (being announced so early, I wonder why so many extensions got ported that late), so I had to try out Feedbro, which seems to be more popular among users, but I don't understand why, was a big disappointment when you are used to Brief. Brief is so much easier to use, simple UI, easy to navigate with mouse and with keyboard, it's fast, it's light weight (needs little memory and CPU time), it works as expected (opening an entry opens it in a tab, marks it as read and immediately wipes it from the unread view), little preferences (which is good, I don't want to waste 2 hours on configuring a RSS reader just to make it somewhat usable). I'm so glad it's back and finally I have a quick, no sorry, a "brief" overview of all the important news again, safes me maybe a hole hour a day, as I can quickly skip all the uninteresting ones, easily read the important ones and peek at those where I'm unsure if they are interesting; that's what you use a news reader for to begin with, isn't it?

posted a month agoPress the "Organize" button, click the `...` entry, enter new name and press Enter.- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18569313, a month agoThis was good once but since one of the FFs in the late 110s it just doesn't run. It's possible to tell it's there - options menus exist, some websites show the subscribe icon, but there's no obvious way to open the reader itself and it may have lost the feed list.
Update: see the response below, this is due to FF UX jank. Click on the "puzzle piece" extensions button, sight the list of extensions, right click on Brief, pick "Pin to toolbar" from the dropdown.Developer response
posted a month agoThe extension button to open the reader view is likely behind the Firefox new "Extensions" button (puzzle piece icon). You should be able to pin it to toolbar from there using the context menu. - Rated 5 out of 5by igorlogius, 2 months ago

posted 5 months agoThank you for the feedback. As far as I know there's currently no way to do this in a reasonable and secure enough way. I'm tracking related issues and will recheck whether something has changed to allow this.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Guido, a year agoI have used brief for several years, and think it's great. For the past 2 days it will not load any sites - it's just blank. Suggestions?
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12685044, 2 years agoAny updates on the search box?
This feeds reader is the best and most flexible you could possibly find for browsers, in my opinion. It was fantastic, until the search box stopped working. The search box is the absolutely essential base part of this reader. It enabled searching through abstracts and reduce the posts only to matches. Otherwise, reading through 10000 entries per day is impossible. Almost 5 years past, but the search option still not working. I'd be willing to pay the developers to get the search box working. - Rated 3 out of 5by użytkownik, 2 years agoDodatek używam od bardzo dawna ale ostatnio coś się popsuło. Wersja brief 2.6.1 - Firefox: 102.0.1 64bit,
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16861328, 2 years agoHave used this for years and still my favourite, but as mentioned before I cannot re-order my feeds anymore. Can anyone help?

- Rated 4 out of 5by tama, 3 years agoGreat addon! I really enjoy it.
But one thing I wish to be fixed. Brief doesn't work when I move my firefox profile from default folder to other drive . - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14200416, 4 years agoSeems to be broken. Cannot subscribe to feeds at all, as the mechanism for subscribing seems to be absent. I cannot set Brief as my default RSS reader. Sorry, brief, this one needs some work before it can become useful.
