I am so tired of FF going through so many versions that the add-on developers can't keep up! Now that we are so reliant on the web and the resources it has to offer it's hard to keep track of what's still "online".

Now that ever before we need something that will help organize and weed out the deadlinks. The only other app that I know of is Linkman Pro or Linkman. But it's a stand alone app.

I'd rather have one built right into the web browser.

I have tried a few of these bookmark cleaners, but I think this is the best one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10897/

This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Uma das mais úteis extensões para quem tem muitos favoritos. É uma lástima que não funcione mais... =(

hope it works in FF 3.5 :(

Not FF 3 compatible Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It would be nice, if this version would work with FF 3.

OTOH, there's "Bookmarks Link Checker Minus 1.6" at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8474 and this extension works very well for me!

firefox 3 update? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I hope this gets updated to support firefox 3.0.

seems like a great addon

I need you more than ever!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

AM-Deadlink doesn't work with FF3 either. -- FF has a horrible UI for managing bookmarks if you have a zillion of them and just imported from another browser and need to clean them up. Man, I really need this for FF3!

This is one of my most favorite AddOns. Please update it for ff3. All the other AddOns available are'nt of any use for me, since I need an AddOn that only checks when I tell it to do so, and that support recursive checking of Bookmarks.

Please update it to make it work with Firefox 3 Final & also Firefox Minefield x64 Edition!

A great AddOn to quickly verify whether your bookmarks are still useful. I only wish it would silently reject all cookie requests while checking...

This would be an excellent tool for me... but unfortunately as soon as I install and click on options it freezes my Firefox! An using 2.0.0.11.

linkchecker Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Good idea but not enough options for it. Basically it checks all the pages and then informs you as to which ones don't work anymore or have been updated by leaving a big ugly logo next to your bookmark. Surely it could be expanded to add settings for it to automatically remove dead links and update old links.

It is working for me Now. Not yet rated

I was having problems with it not working. Got a hold of Randy and he told me that if I still had a previous version installed to uninstall it and it would work.

I had a older version of BLC installed. Removed it and everything went to work. See my original problems below.

I have installed this Add On several times now and different versions. It does not work for me. I am running firefox version Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071204 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.11 Here is a list of the problems I have with it.
1. Preference button does not do anything or work when depressed.
2. no BLC Icons when I go to VIEW, Show Columns, there is no BLC there.

This is a add on that is sorely needed in Firefox. I do hope that the problems will be resolved.

Hi Randy, Good extension and yes it does fill a void. I thought I once had an extention that updated missing bookmark icons? Any helps on updating the icons shown in the bookmarks dropdown?

Needed Add-on; Not Ready for Prime Time Rated 2 out of 5 stars

When managing a large number of bookmarks in Firefox, a tool like LinkChecker would seem to be just the ticket for identifying dead links. That would be true if it worked...

I found for instance, when checking a bookmark folder with many links, LinkChecker would quit before checking all the bookmarks. Also, LinkChecker would identify bookmarks as broken, the page does not exist, when in fact the link was good.

From a design standpoint there are issues as well. When scanning a bookmark folder containing a large number of bookmarks and sub-folders, the only reliable way to see if broken links are found is to watch the Firefox status bar during the scan. Then, the only way to actually determine which bookmarks are dead is to manually open the Bookmark menu or the Bookmark Manager. A pain to say the least. Obviously some time of scan result report is needed here.

LinkChecker is to be commended fro attempting to fill an add-on void in FireFox bookmark management. However, the current version has bugs and usability issues which make it only one step up above manually checking bookmarks.

Great idea, needs work Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Speed of this add-on is slow to stop. It really does seem to stop at times, then resumes.
I wish it didn't leave the tabs open, I wish it would do subfolders, and I wish the icons on the toolbar could be turned off. In spite of what another reviewer said, I could not figure out how to uninstall, although I did find out how to turn it off temporarily. Great, useful idea, and I hope the author continues work on it.

After using this extension, I'd be hard pressed to do without it. Great work!
