Great app! Can you add ability to hide "Other Bookmarks", "Mobile Bookmarks", and "View Pocket List"?
Could you add hide bookmark mobile, please? Thanks
But please, add the option to remove the new pocket thingy.
Really love it, but please can you add support for Firefox 29 Aurora. Thanks
Please add options, to remove the Unsorted Bmarks and the left over Separators remaining when menuitems are removed.
On the 'menu bar' options tab, can you add an option to toggle 'view bookmark menu' like you have on the 'toolbar button' options tab? I know that may sound odd, but I hide firefox's default menu toolbar, and use the Personal Menu addon's bookmark menu button with a drop-down marker, because I don't like how the default firefox bookmarks toolbar button has the word in text and no drop-down marker.
Also, FireFox Sync creates a folder called Mobile Bookmarks when syncing with a mobile phone. I would like for that folder to show up on the boomarks menu bar options tab (and thus personal menu's bookmarks drop-down button), as a pop-out menu: http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/9573/fdqw.png
Would these two features be possible?
Awesome...great job. Thank you so much!
Could you possibly add in a feature where you can import or export bookmarks right from the side bar instead of having to show all bookmarks to do that?
It does exactly what it promised.
lightweight addon @8kb , for firefox later versions
Doesn't seem to work in ff7.0.1, it hides nothing.
Works perfectly as described. Hides everything except the bookmarks I added.
This is exactly what I have been looking for, and it works perfect.
Been searching all morning to do this. Thank you. Now just need to hide the useless Unsorted Bookmarks and this will get a 5.
Would definitely give it 5 stars if it could hide "Unsorted Bookmarks"
I love this addon so much! I've been checking the addons site every day since upgrading to Firefox 4. I knew I couldn't be alone thinking all those stupid items were wasting space.I am giving it 4/5. The one thing that would make it 5/5 would be the ability to hide the 'Unsorted Bookmarks'. Great addon!
A couple related addons that people might be interested in (the combination of this addon plus these two achieve perfect bookmarking for me):
Sidebar Bookmark Selector - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/sidebar-bookmark-selector/
RSS Icon In Awesombar - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/rss-icon-in-awesombar/
Update 06/14/2011: With version 1.1 and the ability to hide Unsorted Bookmarks, this addon is perfect. Updating to 5/5. Love this addon!
I've been waiting for an inbuild option for Firefox to enable user to hide all fixed bookmark menu items. This plugin is certainly doing that.
I never use any of those menu items (View Bookmarks Toolbar, Show All Bookmarks Ctrl+Shift+B, Bookmark This Page Ctrl+D, Subscribe to This Page..., Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmark, Bookmark folder and Unsorted Bookmarks) and I believe I'm not the only one.
Considering I couldn't find any other way to fix the terrible usability of the default bookmark menu (too many options before actual bookmarks), this little add-on works just fine. Yes, you have to try a few times to figure out the row numbers, but it's not that hard.
This add-on is exactly what I want to have after installed Personal Menu. Now I can get the useless menu items (like Bookmark this page, subscribing...) out of the Bookmarks menu (button). Thanks a lot!
This is a very good concept, but falls short of expectations.
1 - There is no way to get to use it unless you goto TOOLS ---> Extension Options...There should be a button to get you there easier.
2 - Little, if any, documentation on how to use this extension exists. It would go a long way to place this very good concept into thousands of user browsers---that's simply through detailed documentation on how exactly the extension works (maybe through examples).
3 - Numbers, that mean virtually nothing to the unenlightened user, is a poor way to determine which bookmark line is to be hidden. If using numbers can't be avoided, then maybe a dropdown that correlates the bookmark line the number represents--so there is no doubt what's being hidden whatsoever.
4 - A way to revive any hidden bookmark line should be provided. If it's a big secret, then a password to enable it's use.
Outside of these constructive criticisms, the idea is a very good one & I hope the developer responds post haste with the needed improvements (well more often--the last update was over 3 months ago).
Thank you for giving it a try.
You are right indeed. The AddOn is hard to configure and the numbers are not what a normal user is used to. I apologize, but a few comment to that.
The AddOn is still in the sandbox and will stay there. There is no update, because I don't what to invest time into an AddOn, that should not live long. I simply hope, that it is possible to remove nasty bookmark-menu-items in the future version. For me surfing is all about bookmarks, so I want the popup as small and lightiweight as possible.
I hope people who are using this, have some minutes to configure the AddOn with these ugly numbers, but when they have finished that, which should not take long, the AddOn hopefully makes a little difference enjoying the best in class browser.
Thanks again for your input.
doesn't work in English version. (wenn es nur in Deutsch funktioniert?)
I checked this addon on a english installation and it worked for me. So please give me more information to what actually does not work.
-runtime error with exception?
Please notice that you have to restart FF after changing the specific settings. So when you change the comma seperated list, you have to restart FF for the new setting to become active and work correctly. These settings are not a subjects of daily changes, so for me it's okay to require a FF-restart.
It works as it should, but it would be a bit easier to understand if it showed which menu items on the "Bookmarks" menu are being hidden, instead of just some numbers.
I also think a better name for this extension would be Bookmark Menu Item Hider.
Easy to use....!
Hope u enjoy it.
