  • Doesn't work here. Possibly NoScript is blocking. Is there a URI to whitelist?
  • It needs to be updated for the latest version of Firefox.
  • When is the upgrade for 9.x going to be available?
  • Please upgrade for use with Firefox 8. I use this all the time to shorten up those LONG web links.
  • It needs to be updated for the latest version of Firefox.
  • oops wrong extension
  • This is such an awesome and useful extension and is a must-have for anyone who frequently deals with shortened URL's. However, the unfortunate thing is that this add-on is not compatible with Firefox 7. If you are reading this bit.ly team, please make this add-on compatible with Firefox 7. I found it extremely useful and was disappointed to see that it wasn't yet compatible.
  • Not available for Firefox 6.0
  • Please update this to work with Firefox 5.0.1 thanks!!!!!!!!!
  • Think it's great, but please hurry with providing support for Ff 5!
  • Not yet available for Firefox 4.0.1
    Last update: January 7, 2010 :-(((
  • Bit.ly preview is a great tool but when i updated my firefox stopped working, looks like it doesn’t work with firefox 4
  • guys I had to get rid of the extension in FF4 (no such problem in Chrome). Your extension induces a serious delay while loading pages, ie the UI freezes 1~2 seconds on any loading page, then displays instantly and just when bit.ly is loaded. That's not acceptable. Please update it.
  • Works good! Please integrate goo.gl as a new short domain.
  • was useful, but if it sends private data about anything i am surfing at, this is an impudance!

    thx @ lucasm4st3r
  • Useful, but what about a Google Chrome version?

  • @Eric Hellman
    Phew! Thank you for advising!
  • While I like this add-on, it has a fatal flaw. With add-on installed, the url of EVERY non-encrypted web page the user visits is reported to bit.ly. See http://go-to-hellman.blogspot.com/2010/05/bitly-preview-add-on-leaks-user.html for more details.
  • I'm just confused when I get the shortened URL and it asks me to save it. I want to save it as it is without anything else beside it, how do I do it or what do I type in the little box before I save it?

  • The only reason I gave this add-on a 1 star, is because I could not give it a zero. It is without a doubt, one of the very worst add-ons that I have ever seen. Perhaps if there was just 1 bit.ly shortened URL on a page, it may be slightly tolerable, but when there are multiple shortened URLs such as with places like Twitter, the performance of this add-on is simply not acceptable. It goes like this: If the add-on cannot access a site to get the actually destination of the shortened URL, your browser will just hang until the page can be accessed. Thus it is 100% pure junk! Simply avoid and save yourself a whole lot of time and aggravation.
  • annoying and intrusive. bit.ly will fade away more and more without a simple preview form on the site... there are many more to choose from. this plugin was a nightmare
