Personal Settings Rated 4 out of 5 stars
What if a user wants to delete macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol at startup but keep auto update turned off? It would be better if you ask the user for a personal settings.sol file to replace macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol at startup.
Btw, here is a site to view a .sol file as a .xml file:
click browse and type %APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol then click open
No useful suggestions at all
1. Why should a user want to delete the settings.sol file, though he wants to keep its settings?
2. How do you think could the usual(!) user create such a replacement file?
3. The given URL for a sol file parser does NOT provide a way that could be incorporated in this extension (just look at the source code - it's serverside)
4. Using a cookie or sol file viewer is no secure way to judge the threat of a single file. In most cases the data is somehow encrypted or made unreadable by other means. So often you are even unable to see what sort of data has been stored. Moreover, a feature like this would pretend a sort of safety where no reliable predictions can be made. That's why I won't add such a viewer.
