It is broken... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Oh my!

Since today Better iGoogle is broken: it seems that Google changed things in their page, and Better iGoogle is not working anymore!

Please: fix it! I'm addict to this piece of software!

Ever since the last update, either firefox or google, I haven't been able to adjust the settings.
Still a great addon. Please fix it!

Works only with .com Rated 4 out of 5 stars

If you use a dot_something diferent from .com try substitute .something (like .it) with .com and it works.

Does not work invisibly, but works effectively. Thanks!

after downloading "better facebook" and having some problems with it i decided to try this to see if the problems were due to facebooks latest update. But its the same story. this add on is a great idea but the little bugs and the not so little drop in performance distract from potential greatness. "Better Facebook earned a 2 star from me but was dropped to a 1 because of the developers arrogant attitude. his reply to critical reviews with comments like "I don't think a 1-star review is justified!" and "I don't think some slowness (that may or may not be the fault of the add-on) justifies a one-star review!" these add-ons would be much better if the developer would fix the problems instead of making excuses. this add on was use full even with the bugs so it would have earned a three star review if the developer was more willing to improve the add ons then to lay blame on the users.

Slowness is hard to debug

When you complain of "slowness" that's really hard to debug. ANY script that is running on a web site and altering its content and functionality will slow it down a bit. This script in particular has to do a number of complicated things AFTER the page loads in order to re-process the contents. It does slow down load time. But once done, it adds a ton of great functionality. Perhaps your computer is a little slower than mine or others and these scripts affect your experience more than others, I don't know.

Doesn't work for iGoogle UK - no options link appears.
(adding to my post below, yes, the options do appear if I go to the .com version)

I'm not getting a settings button

It's in the upper right

It's a link up in the right corner. Make sure you don't have some script hiding the header bar where the link is inserted.

better igoogle/adding new rss feeds Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great addon - do like the hover feature, but a few days after installing I lost the ability to add new RSS feeds.
Matt can you iron out this issue and turn a leaden baby into a golden bambino.

Can you clarify?

What do you mean you lost the ability to add rss feeds? What are you doing exactly? What happens? If you disable Better iGoogle, does it work as expected?

Finally something that replaces the igooglesidebartoggle add-on, plus a bunch of other settings to change. Thanks!

This doesn't seem to work at all.

It works for me!

Could you give more details?! It works perfectly for me. In fact, I'm using it right now.
What version of FF? What do you mean it "doesn't seem to work"?
What does or doesn't happen?

Broke last week Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I had this installed and working, and sometime last week, it seemed to stop working and no more options link is appearing on the page. Perhaps Google changed something in their HTML?

Great addon while it works :)

No Options Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I also had the problem of no options link put it does pop up if you go to
http://www.google.com/ig#

I don't get an options link provided on the igoogle page. I'm in the UK so google automatically sends me to google.co.uk if that could be the cause?
p.s. sorry for logging this as a review but I can't find any way to raise a support query with you

Question Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Lost Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Not to sound dumb but I cannot open the options in the Add-Ons tab it is grayed out. Is there another way to change the settings that I am unaware of.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6).

Options are on the page!

The options are not triggered through the Add-on options button. Instead, there is a link inserted into the iGoogle page itself, in the upper right. It should have been highlighted for you when you first installed the script.

Bestest iGoogle Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I really love this add on. I love igoogle, but hated all of the wasted space previously.

I am having a problem though. I continually get this alert "Error: document.getElementById("col1") is null" just about every time the page reloads. It's weird though, I installed this while at work and it only does it here, I have no problems on my home computer?!?! Please help me fix it.

Error will soon be fixed...

Hi,

Sorry about this error. I cannot reproduce it, but I have put in a fix that should resolve it for those who see it happening. The updated version was uploaded a while ago but is awaiting approval before it goes live. As soon as they approve it, get the latest and it should be fixed!

NICE!
However:
1. Sidebar toggle is not really a toggle - once you open the sidebar via the left (yellow) link you can't really close it again unless you refresh the page manually.
2. Google Reader gadget - whein I click maximize I get "Error: document.getElementById("col1") is null"

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Reply

I cannot replicate the problem in #2, but I did identify the only place in code that would possibly trigger it. I have corrected that and will upload a new version when I get the chance.

Some nice features, such as being able to set the height on gadgets. One feature I didn't like was the automatic settings placed on gadgets such as Foxnews and Youtube that suppressed the details of each story/video, respectively. Couldn't find out how to turn this off, so I uninstalled, but all in all, not a bad start to a nice add-on.

Hover over stories for details

You can view the full detailed content of any story/video by hovering over the title. A bubble will popup with the story details. This applies only to RSS feeds, of course, which is what I assume you are referring to?
