unmovable in Australis Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It was very useful until FF29.x (5*). But as long as it is stuck to the left of the adress bar in FF30.x it is of no use to me. As soon as it is movable again to any place in any bar I will give 5*.
Sorry kaiengert :-(

Needs options Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is useful but unfortunately in Australis it's stuck to the address bar. Is there any way to make it moveable with the back-forward buttons or separately? Classic Theme Restorer has that ability but some of its buttons break with other themes.

Oh, thank goodness! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love the new Firefox (29.0.1) but the compressed history was driving me nuts. This works :)

Now, how do I get rid of the default Back button, which I no longer need??

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

...been some time now that the addon hasn't been updated and it doesn't work with the latest versions of firefox - especially now with the new Australis UI that has landed in the latest nightlies.

I'm giving it 3 stars because it used to work fine for years. I will revise my rating once it works with the newest versions of firefox.

Edit [April 6, 2014]: ...I just gave the 0.2.9 version a spin and it does work. Still not changing my rating because:

a) took quite some time before it got fixed and the drop-down looks big and bulky with a large gap between the back button.
b) in the meantime I switched to using Classic Theme Restorer + Classic Toolbar Buttons that work perfectly providing a minimal drop-down history button attached to the right of a combined back/forward button.

So, sorry, still 3 stars for old times sake ;)

Please try version 0.2.9

On the main add-on page, bottom, "version information", "see complete version history", you should be able to find version 0.2.9

It works for me with FF29 and the latest FF nightly. Please give it a try. Does it work for you?

Glad to find this add-on again! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm enjoying this software and my husband is glad we found it again. I'm wondering, however, where the entire navigation toolbar is? I have only one icon showing up between the backward and forward arrows (on the upper left of the screen), a pale colored downward facing arrow that shows where I've navigated. How can I get the navigation bar that shows the other icons shown on your product's mozilla page? Also, I'm sure others would appreciate if you would darken the color for the icons of your add-on. I had a hard time finding it on my home page and thought this add-on didn't download!

No. 3 of My 3 Most Used Addons. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have never had a problem with this addon in 10/11/12/13 FF and Aurora. And I like that a lot.
It has been so useful. Jumping backward and forwards to a page you want to revisited, without having to go through every page in between is just good.
It has set itself up between the Back and Forward button and is not in the way and doesn't ruin the theme as some would have you believe.
It works. It's very useful. I'm keeping it.

A Bit Broken :( Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi, a great add-on before, but broken for me. The drop-down list arrow appears between the "Back" and "Forward" buttons, not after them. Using the new version 0.2.4 still gives the same problem (I made sure I uninstalled the old version first). I'm using Firefox 11.0 on Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit).

EDIT - @kaiengert - OK, sorry, I didn't see the release notes. My bad. I've updated my score to 3 stars. I can't give it any more though, because since the change, this add-on breaks both of my favourite themes. Before the change, when the drop-down arrow was at the right not in the middle, I would have given it 5 stars.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.4.1-signed).

It's now INTENDED to appear between back and forward.
That's the only way I could make it work quickly, see the release note comment for version 0.2.4
Why do you give such a negative review, if the dropdown is visible and working?
I haven't gotten around to update the screenshot.

Better Than Built-In But Needs More Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I just installed "Backward Forward History Dropdown" because my old "Tab History" v1.0.6 no longer works with FF 9.0.1. I was so accustomed to having the tab history drop-down menu, that I'd forgotten it was an add-on.

I do realize that FF 9.x has a tab history available by click and hold on the forward and back arrows (I prefer icons) or by right clicking the arrows, but I find it cumbersome to use. This BFHD is okay, but not as good as my old "Tab History" add-on.

The old one would gray out if the active tab had no history, so I knew immediately not to waste my time looking for history on that tab. BFHD really needs this functionality too. Better yet, I would like to see the next revision of FF have the tab history as a separate button which includes a grayed out function for lack of history. Otherwise, BFHD is better than the built in tab history.

Great add-on, but button too big Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a much-needed add-on! My only comment is on the design of the button itself. It's too wide and has too much empty space on the right-hand side of the V-shaped arrow.

It would also be nice if the button had the same look and feel as the back and forward buttons do, in terms of the surrounding colour. Eg. see this screenshot of mine:

http://i44.tinypic.com/21ainpd.png

You can see the back and forward buttons have a lighter-blue colour for the actual button itself, but the History Dropdown button just has the same dark blue colour of the toolbar it's on.

Lastly, the V-shaped arrow itself would look nicer if it were the same colour/style as the back/forward arrows. Furthermore, the V-shaped arrow seems to look bold when there is *no* history to display, and unbold when there *is* history to display, which is the opposite of what I'd expect to see. I'd expect the arrow to be bold (or darker) when there *is* history available, to indicate that the arrow can be clicked on.

But other than these layout issues, the add-on is a welcome addition!

Fantastic. Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I agree they should never have removed it, or at least made it a selectable option.
How about adding an option to increase the size of the drop down list?

Only Works With Graphic Buttons Rated 3 out of 5 stars

After upgrading one of my test installations to see how well FF5 was compared to FF3.6.22 I was disappointed to see so many adverse changes that just plain don't work for me :-( One of the main problems was the way the history dropdown is now integrated into the navigation buttons. You either have to press and hold or right click. At first you might think this is a useful feature. But it very quickly becomes an irritation, and slows down work flow. Also, the history will not pop up in some cases with an extended press, forcing you to right click. Where as before it was just a simple single left click. So I tried this add-on. It installs fine, but unfortunately it does not have a plain text mode "v". I don't know about everyone else but I set my FF to plain text buttons to shrink the used space on the screen. So in my case this add-on is completely useless! If the developer reads this review, please add the "v" for plain text mode button use!! Overall this seems to be a well written and otherwise useful add-on to undo the unfortunate decision by the FF crew to remove it.

Thank you for making this available AGAIN. This is the kind of service i expect from Mozilla. I hope I don't have to keep adding this on with every "upgrade".

Should NEVER have been removed in the first place Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Too bad add-on developers need to do the job of core developers because the latest make moronic design choices. Still, thanks a lot for this fix.

Needs to be a separate button Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been missing this function and found this add-on useful... until I read the review by Questionguy and found out this function is still available by holding down the back arrow. However, if this button was available to use separately from the < > arrows then it could be used to replace them on the toolbar (I like to save space and if I need to just jump back once I can use mouse gestures).

Fixes a grave mistake in FF4 UI design Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Seems some people don't like this addon because the dropdown arrow is larger than the one in the FF3. But I like it BECAUSE it's bigger than the FF3 one. Don't change it please! If you want a dropdown button in FF4, that looks like the one in FF3, there's another addon to do that. Go search.

Ugly arrow Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This should include a screenshot so people know what they're getting. The drop-down arrow used in this plug-in is actually very large and doesn't look anything like the FF3.x drop-down arrow. Instead, it's grey and about 4 times as wide. It works, but doesn't look great.
