I love this addon except that now in firefox 35, the icon no longer matches the title bar. It's a tiny red "x" less than half the size of the circle containing the left arrow "back" button.

Works as advertised, light extension with a simple function & that's all.

I'm looking for a way to make a request, hope I find it. Would be cool to make Forward reopen the last closed tab when there's no forward . . . history (゜_゜>)??

Thank you =)

This add-on (and back is close)
is the only reason I still use firefox instead of Chrome.

If firefox ends up breaking and blocking addons like this. (Like Chrome has done)
Then I'm done with firefox, as it's gotten slow and fat with the years.

Excellent Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is how it should be. Now I can quickly open links in tabs and back out with the mouse's back button. I must save at least a couple minutes every day because of this simple feature.

Not sure if it is possible, but I wish I could also hit back to close alerts and other modal windows (just as alt f4 would).

Not working on my Mac Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this add-on. However, on my new Mac it is not closing the tab when there is no more history. Works great on Windows but not on Mac. I have been using this for years on Windows and just cannot live without it. Would love to figure out how to get it to work on the latest Apple hardware and software combination and the latest version of FF.

Mac gestures no longer working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

As of Firefox 23 or so, the Mac trackpad swipe gesture no longer works with Back to Close. I put a bug report in Firefox bugzilla, about the problem, "Bug 925906 - MozSwipeGesture event no longer fires when no browser back history" - hope that helps!

Feature requests Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It would be awesome if you could do these things: use the back arrow as well as Meta-Left; reopen a closed tab/window by using Meta-Right (or the forward button).

What's the point? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Doesn't work with mouse back button in Mac OSX as correct modifier is Cmd-left arrow, not Alt-left arrow. So if I have to click back-to-close icon to activate I'd rather just click close tab.

Freezes for a while when closing a PDF tab Rated 4 out of 5 stars

When I press the back button on my 5-button mouse on a tab that was newly open with a PDF document, the tab is supposed to be closed immediately, but what happens in fact is that the browser is frozen for about 46 seconds before the tab is closed. (Windows 7, Firefox 14.0.1, Adobe Acrobat plugin 9.5.2.295, Back to Close 1.10) This freezing does not happen when I press the [x] button on the tab bar to close the tab.

Otherwise, this extension works great.

Script for FireGestures Rated 5 out of 5 stars

To make it works with Left move with the mouse, I have to replace the standard "Browser:Back" in FireGestures by a new script :
FireGestures.sendKeyEvent({ alt: true, keyCode: "DOM_VK_LEFT" });

Insanely brilliant Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I only realise how often I use this simple little add-in when I'm on system that doesn't have it. Especially when combined with a mouse button assigned to Back, it just saves so much faff.

Deserves to be famous.

first i encountered the "back to close" on my android mobile. since i branch out in very many different tabs at times, i wanted a quick way to get rid of them when they served their purpose. i wanted them to just go away like on my mobile.
so i installed this and it is great!

Awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't get why there isn't more users! This is a must have for me! I hope more people become aware...

On Mac the keyboard shortcut doesn't work since on Mac a Command modifier is used, not alt. It would be great if the addon considered this issue.

Doesn't do anything at all.

Alt + back arrow, nothing.

Right-click, select "back", nothing.

Using FFv7.0.1. Add-on page says it works up to FF8.

[Ext] Back To Close - New Feature or Extension Request Rated 5 out of 5 stars

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=361130&p=11247695#p11247695
How about a 'forward is reopen closed tab' extension to go along with this one, it just seems like a natural extension of this functionality. I imagine accidentally clicking the little back button on my mouse on a tab and just clicking the little forward button to reopen it. "Easy Peasy". I hope this inspires someone!
Good Idea :!: "Forward to Undo Last Closed Tab" or "Forward to Reopen Closed Tab"

You wright I have tried doing that on occasion after closing a tab when pushing my mouse's back button and without thinking, I try to press my mouse's forward button thinking it would undo the last closed tab if the current tab I'm viewing has no forward history...

Back to close is great. I will not upgrade Firefox until the new version supports it. One problem. I am currently running FF6 Beta and have notices that it will close App Tabs (in particular Google Reader). App Tabs should be permanent until I unpin them.

Works fine Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works fine. I don't use gestures, so I guess that doesn't bother me. One of my Top 5, Absolutely Most Essential, Couldn't Live Without add-ons. Amazing that Moz/FF has not done this themselves.

How To: Gesture Fix Rated 4 out of 5 stars

You can fix the gesture in FF4 by cusomizing your toolbar. Put the back to close item (it has a buggy icon in my FF and doesn't show in the toolbar at all) in there and it should work again. If not, try removing the forward/back buttons and put them back into place (may require an FF restart while re-placing the button).

Firefox 4 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Love Back to close but I agree with PC-renew: back button in Firefox 4 does not close tab when there is no history.
