So? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So is anybody going to continue the development of this addon? This is the only addon in the whole catalog that does the stuff I need.

I really like this addon a lot. But it is useless to me if I cannot add my own search engines. Right now I use the 'add to searchbar' addon together with the 'scroll search engines' addon. Whenever I want to look for something I just type in the searchbar and scroll to the desired search engine. It's ver fast and very effective.

So my question is, can you add your own search engines? And if so, can you scroll through them, or use a similar technique?

Thanks!

The visual feedback provided by this addon is very nice; unfortunately, it is not compatible with Firefox 4 :( Is an update for Firefox 4 planned? Forcibly enabling the 0.3.1 version using Add-on Compatibility Reporter does not give satisfactory results: the search engine icon is displayed “washed out”, and the magnifying glass icon at the right is repeated 3 times (the last one looks darker).

How to use it?!! any help??

Somewhat good search bar, but it is only good if you have tagged your bookmarks. If you are like me and don't like to spend the extra time tagging bookmarks then this is not a good add on

Simple and to-the-point tweaks. Recommended for those who use bookmark keywords. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Awesomer Bar is a Firefox extension which adds several tweaks to give visual feedback when a user enters a bookmark keyword (aka a custom keyword) in the location bar (aka the awesome bar). Namely, it changes the blank page icon on the left of the location bar to the icon associated to the bookmark, and changes the arrow icon on the right to a magnifying glass (which is consistent with the one shown in the autocomplete list). If a user points to the magnifying glass icon, it shows the name of the bookmark in a tooltip.

I have been using Awesomer Bar 0.3 with Firefox 3.5 Preview, RC 1, RC 2 and RC 3, and it works fine. The extension just adds polish to the user interface of Firefox, and it fits in perfectly. I would not be surprised if I were told that this feature is simply part of Firefox. I recommend the extension to all the Firefox users using bookmark keywords.

Here is a possible way to improve Awesomer Bar. When I enter a keyword, the blank page icon changes to the one associated to the keyword, which is what the extension is about (good). However, if I press the [Down] key to select the search, the icon changes back to the normal blank page icon. It will be probably better if the icon remains to be the one associated to the keyword when I select the search by using the keyboard. I am not sure whether the magnifying glass should remain as it is or change back to the arrow, since in this case the location bar contains the full URL for search, and showing the arrow seems also consistent. In any case, both icons should change back to normal if I press the [Down] key once more to select another item in the autocomplete list (as they do now).

An unrelated note: it is funny that the pronunciation of the (apparently intentionally chosen) nonstandard English word “awesomer” happens to be very close to that of the Japanese word for “king.” I would rather save my judgment on whether Awesomer Bar is the king of extensions, but the extension is certainly nice.

Thank you for sharing this cool extension.

Just curious if this is still being developed?

Also, has any progress been made with the Foxmarks favicons issue?

Works great !!!

Suggestion to devs: Enlarge the icon placeholder and add the name of the search engine, just like when the site is secure.

I really like this extension but have seen a few bugs. It world perfect if you use it with search plugins. But when you use it with Keyword searches it dosent seem to work as well, as several sites do not show a favicon for me
