Just great. People should know to download the beta version for firefox 10+ from their website. then amazing!!

Say goodbye to repeatedly changing the save folder Rated 4 out of 5 stars

If your the type of person who has a collection of folders you use for saving web content (e.g. banking statement, e-bills, receipt folders) this add-on can save you some of that repetitive changing folders. You can have a specific folders for specific sites and that is just what I was looking for.

I have tested beta version update from developer's website with FireFoX 25.0.1 and works well. As the developer has said you need this version if run FFX 17 or higher. I had to change some of the setting defaults to get it to behave like what I expected from the screenshot and in a way that I liked. It has lots of options to customize it to work the way you want.

Here are the settings I chose - it may help if your not sure what to try.

Page1 tab:
select "Always ask me where to save"
View options ... "Always show"
Suggest all possible folder
View the list of folders
Right click (tick both boxes)

Page 2 tab:
filtering "4,1"

Filters tab:
add a test filter (and make sure the catch all filter is "*", "*" is at bottom of list)
If the file doesn't match any filter save to - "last folder" and "memorize on site-by-site"

Thank you Cyan for a very comprehensive feature set. This one goes in my must have collection.

Great idea, but not working... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

When installed (on FF 25.0.1) , it disabled ALL downloads!
Neither "Save page as..." nor "Save target as..." did work anymore. May be an incompatibility with another of the many add-ons I have installed... or not.
I had to disable it to be able to save anything again.
It's a pity.

Just awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars

this add-on seems to work actually well. I was thinking that this add-on was completely abandoned and unusable for a long time but I recently retested ii with its version 1.0.4 and Firefox 22 on Ubuntu64 and I discovered that it works!!! No bug with the first launch window any more and filters are effective(read the help page about regexp filters if you have problems). Thanks a lot for this essential add-on!!! Versions are also available on the developer website to download.

Doesn't seem to work. Must be outdated. Last update was January 2012.

Great idea, poor execution Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Add-on does not work on FF 20.0 (ubuntu x64) although idea is great! Hope to see usable version soon.

Not working in FF 20.0 either. This is one of the main reasons I switched to firefox from chrome....please fix this (I'm also getting the first launch window showing up every time)

Not working FF19 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Not working on FF 19 and the first launch window appears every time we launch FF and pop ups.

I can't for the life of me get the addon to work.
I have put in "all" in the domain and .torrent in the file type and set a local. I have activated it but FF just downloads everything to my default folder.
Shame it is not working (apart from the generous first-launch window spam which is really effing annoying)

Variable syntax is weak and a little haphazard (couldn't stop on $ or %), on the bright side regexp in target folder name was a good idea (e.g. can save wikis into /%asf_rf%(\w+\:)%asf_rf%/).

Its great potential is almost unused, though.

After those saving file name updates of FF, ability to explicitly set name would be a good start. Just add one line for target file name and make at least title from current page's content accessible as %asd_ct% or something, so between it and file names it can be set case-by-case. Of course, since this means title gets grep'd now, it would go beyond workaround and be a great option in itself.

From bigger things, needs at least "if empty" fallback syntax or better true if-then condition. Add this and ability to get arbitrary META, and it could do just about anything short of julienne fries. :]

Most of all, needs updates - right now, last fixed beta from its site would be okay, especially since after first run got broken.

I'm disappointed that I could not make this work. I'm running the most current version of FF and the extension made my browser lock up every time I tried to configure it. I was unable to test it out because it did not allow me to adjust it, so I uninstalled. This would be an incredible tool if it worked.

New Window Shows About Page Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This was a nice extension. However version 1.0.4 always opens the update page when the browser starts or a new windows opens. Very annoying. I had to disable it. Please fix!

This was a nice extension. However version 1.0.4 always opens the update page when the browser starts or a new windows opens. Very annoying. The last beta version corrects this but the "save image as" or the "save link as" doesn't work. I had to disable it.

If at you at start the tab constantly opens, download psledny a beta the version on a site of the author.
(Forgive for my English)

Update notice will not go after initial display Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Really useful add-on spoilt by latest version spamming any spawned window with a tab detailing operation of update and granting said tab focus. Despite following any instruction steps, add-on refuses to remove display in daughter windows of update notice. Removing and discontinuing use. Add-on now has more drawbacks than benefis. Thank you to Author for previous versions they were well respected and beneficial, just latest version which has proven to be of no benefit and obtrusive where it needn't be. Add-ons should sit quietly in background not spawn tabs otherwise with a typical install having multiple add-ons every firefox launch would require multiple tabs to be cleared for every use :-)

Interesting idea, but the extension options UI is antiquated, at least on Linux, and the custom buttons don't display correctly, again on Linux.

Indispensable Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Automatic Save Folder is one of those things where, once you get used to it, you wonder how you ever lived without it. It's just so satisfying to be able to have my GOG games and my LOLcats and my YouTube videos and everything else just start the Save dialog off in the folder that, 99% of the time, is what I wanted.

Letely I've been having this issue where downloaded files get renamed from:

archive.tar.gz to archive_tar.gz
addon-1.2.3.xpi to addon-1.2_3.xpi

...so, it seems that the dot before the last one is sopmehow replaced by an underscore. I'm not suggesting that this addon is causing the issue, I'm simply reporting it because it could possibly provide a solution. It already allows tokens/dates to be added to the filename, so I'm throwing the idea on the table to also support regex file-renaming or extension-changing rules. How about it?

working well so far, but tested only the basic functions.
"download sort" extension didn't work for me at all...

so thanks much for this!

Awesome add-on. Real time savior. Works perfectly on ff13.
