Simple function, but when one is going through multiple folders of bookmarks, it's very helpful to have previously used folders close; this saves from excess scrolling and makes it easier to find what one is looking for with a glance.
This solves my problem, thanks! But, the "Remember and focus the last selected folder" box is not working the way I expected. I expected when I selected a new folder the last one would collapse. But that's not what's happening - all the folder stay expanded. I can detect no difference whether the box is checked or not. ---- UPDATE! Then it added the "Classic Theme Restorer" add-on, and now the "Remember and focus the last selected folder" works! I am using Firefox 38.0.5. Could it be that the "Autoclose Bookmark&History Folders" add-on was written for an earlier version of Firefox, and running "Classic Theme Restorer" add-on resets something back to the way it was in the version in effect when the "Autoclose Bookmark&History Folders" add-on was written?
The option "Remember and focus the last selected folder" works only for folders that are opened using a normal click on its name. If so, then the sidebar will automatically scroll to this folder (it will be the first visible element in the sidebar) once it has been closed and re-opened.
The add-on has no dependencies on other add-ons. But other installed add-ons may cause side-effects and even disable some/all functionalities of "Autoclose Bookmark&History Folders".
It keeps the bookmark sidebar compact. This could be standard feature of the firefox. Before installing it, I was disturbed by scrolling up and down among the bookmarks. Now I don't need doing so. I'm happy! The design of the configuration setting is also clean.
Autocloseing the sidebar on shutdown has been tested and it's working. If you think you found a bug, then please contact me and include all necessary details to reproduce the problem (these especially include version of the add-on, Firefox version, operating system and other installed add-ons).
Of course, saving the session (tabs and windows) when closing Firefox does not close the sidebar.
edit: The problem has been identified and will be fixed in the next version. In the meantime, you can open about:config and either delete or reset "extensions.ac-btf.CloseSidebar" .
