Pretty good, doesn't update Size Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I tried both "Delete with normal Thunderbird code" and "Detach with AE's internal routine." Both work great, so to avoid the Thunderbird prompts, I will use AE's routine. It hung once on an image of indeterminate size, which I detached by hand with Thunderbird's code, and then I resumed AE with the rest of the folder. Save some space!

The only issue is that the Size (column view option) that is tallied for the folder does not get updated by either option. So, I only know how many MB I detached by the set of files in my file manager, or by checking in the online webmail client. When one detaches attachments one at a time with the Thundebird code, the folder size updates, but not with AE.

Would be nice if this were fix, as it would help me see how much storage I'm using (because my workplace has a cap on the amount, lame).

Hang when file size is ZERO Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't know why sometimes my server will have this problem. But this add-on simply hang when try to process such email.

Well done! - does the job Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This (1.3.5.1 with TB 38.5.1 on Debian Linux) is in fact a _very_ handy Addon!
Tried to "improve" it (because I don't want to have all attachments in one folder) by modifying the formatting of the #date#-tag to 'Y/m/d/' so it will create subdirectories, but unfortunately the last subdir is corrupted always, so extraction can not take place.
This - of course - is not a bug, but would be a feature if implemented (and I think it's just one or two lines of code)

Can't live without it

Wow - Great! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

First of all THANKS ! I started using AE today and really like it and it's settings and features. Really great work!

And detaching after processing the attachments is such a MEGA great feature THANKS!

I use it on Ubuntu 14.04 and discovered a little problem:

A thing which was a little bit annoying is that folder permissions goes wrong when you use #folder# / #etc...etc# in the file name pattern.

The result should be: ~/Email-AT/inbox/bla.jpg

When I start the detaching progress AE will create the folder fine but it will be created with folder permissions read and execute (rw) only. Then AE tries to write the attachments and that fails of course because there is no execute/change into that folder permission ("x" permission in linux terms)!

I fixing this by setting the folder permissions manually after the failure and then restart the process.

I would really like to see an updated version where the above is fixed and the experimental internal detachment parts going to stable. Then we go for the fifth star in the review ;)

Thanks

This add-on is nice, but horrible configurated. Thus the detaching of a attachment lead to a saving and deleting in the email, however then the attachment is not linked to the email anymore. Only by setting the configuration to experimental mode, this can be solved.

Patch for installation up to TB-version 99 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I patched the install.rdf-file of version 1.3.5.1 so that it is possible to install attachment extractor to a Thunderbird up to version 99 without version-error. Tested with TB 38.0.1, but no warranty for functionality. Available on my homepage dvschuetz.de under "Anleitungen - Email - Thunderbird Add-Ons".

Extrae y renombra adjuntos con mismo nombre Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very good add-on - but how do "Suggested File-Folders" work? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very good add-on, version with patched version number range still working in TB 31.6.0 :) (used with local mail folders only so fare).

I don't want full automatic extraction, but think that "Suggested File-Folders" ("Ordnervorschläge" in German TB) could be useful - but I could not figure out how to use this. I defined 2 folders there (one for pictures one for other documents), but never saw one of these as suggestion. I always must navigate to the desired destination folder after "Extract to Suggested File-Folders" :(.

Very Good Job! Exactly what I was looking for!
Could you please update / maintain it to work with the actual and upcoming versions of TB?

An addon I'm not sure I could live without anymore! Specially when I have a horrible tendency to 'horde' messages with attachments until they pile up ridiculously.

The only 'change' in this tool that I'd like to see, is perhaps the ability to have the attachments from each message to save in a separate folder within the selected folder. (IE, if I create folder for all the attachments, then each message's attachments are in a separate folder inside that. . .) just to make sorting/dealing with the attachments from there a little easier instead of ending up with a huge jumble to sort through. But yeah, this addon is one tool that makes it impossible for me to stop using Thunderbird. ;)

*Edit* Ah!! With that file separator, its perfect! No need to let my stuff pile up until I have time to deal with them separately now. Thank you so much! Loving it. :D

just add a folder separator in the pattern

Great add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I jsut used it and it saved me lots of time.
>300 mails in <2 min all attachments to a dedicated folder of my choice. Just GREAT !!!

We should ask our self why is this add-on is not getting continued for future TB versions.
Is it because TB will implement this feature already in its next release as standard feature ? or is it of missing support for the developers from the users ?
We users of this add-on just download and dont pay a cent BUT then complain if something is not working to the great developer of this timesaving add-on?

Who of us users works for free ?

Walk the talk dear users !
Maeby we can bring the developer of this add-on to reconsider.
