Thanks you ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for this useful addon.

It's the only one of it's kind and that's unfortunate.

I can sort of get the same results from animatedpng.com .

What I'm saying is, this program lacks key features. I don't see any use for setting individual frame delay. It's completely useless for any sort of animation.

It's a headache to import a 20-odd frame animation and have to set the framerate for each frame.

That's my biggest complaint. Also, I'm forced to use firefox to make aPNG's.

Good to have a way to create APNGs. I don't care it doesn't have much features, I do most of the work on external editors so I just need to put the frame together.

And don't care if it violates the PNG specification. Saying we shoudn't use PNG for animations because it was originally designed for still images is the same as saying we shoudn't use phone to transfer data with ADSL because it was originally designed for voice.

Great Job Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I will say that this is a very useful add-on. Unfortunately I like many others do not have the ability to edit these images once they are in this format. This is a small problem but their is no way for this to be changed for now thank you for making this useful add-on and I look for many update to come.

Great tool! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've used this tool many times to create animated png files for web pages. animated gifs only allow 256 colors, so this tool allows me to have animations with better color quality.

Pros: Makes functional APNG files! Customizable frame display times right to the millisecond.

Cons: This isn't something that would typically present itself as a web browser plug-in. Lacks ability to select frames to apply changes across multiple frames. Lacks ability to rearrange/insert frames. Runs slow. Appears to be a 16MB file size output limit.

Overall: APNG Edit has a long way to go, and it can only get better, but for the time being, APNG Edit is a good choice, if not the only choice to author APNG files.

One star for supporting an explicit violation of the PNG specification.

(PNG was designed with the knowledge of how much trouble it was to detect whether a GIF was animated. APNG ignores that and also ignores the parts of the PNG spec that basically say "A PNG contains a single frame. Multi-frame PNGs are to be considered broken."

Very Nice, but Rated 2 out of 5 stars

very well done... but...

I CAN'T EDIT MY OWN IMAGES!!!! :(

just for that: 2 stars (would be 5 if this problem didn't existed...)

Excellent little tool for creating APNGs! Support for indexed color would be great for reducing the size of animations using simple graphics, though.

Best Tool Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hey this is really COOL! I can use this to create APNG's for my theme now! Thanks a lot for this tool!

Exellent! ^^

Recomendation: Add a global "Time to delay before next frame" button. Make an apng with a lot of frames is tedious >_

Busted in FF3b4 update: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Don't know why but it refuses to save in Firefox3 Beta4.. Too bad, I am really looking forward to using this. Been waiting 14 years for animations that support more then one single useless single bit of transparently. Easy to use but it will not save. Can't give it a 10, I can't get it working.

Ok found a copy of FF3B3 got it working. Works great. Could use a few things though. Drag and drop, Rearrange frames. Save individual frames for quick touch ups.

A way to import finished files.. There is no way to edit these files once they're created. You got to do it all over again if there is a error.

Build in the chopper Java script. ( BTW if you are not viewing the animation when you run this script the extension will hang.) Forever. it don't check to see if it is running first before it tries updating it.

There seems to be a problem making bigger animations in that the animation explodes in size beyond the original file sizes even when the chopper is applied. If this file format is ever going to take off we need the smallest files possible. The compressor needs to be set to max or some way where we can pick it's setting. 500k of files should not create a animation that is close to one meg even when it's been chopped. There is a problem here. It should end up smaller than the original files considering 80% of the bits have been removed by the chopper. Other than that it's easy to use. A few tweaks and I'll change my vote to 10.

I noticed one more show stopper. Since you can't export frames after they have been chopped resizing images smaller so hopefully the finished animation is smaller actually has the opposite effect cause after you resize the images the colors no longer are perfectly matched from one frame to the next.
So the chopper program does very little. IE and animation I had that was 120 X 120 chopped was smaller than a resized 80 X 80 one that was also chopped. The smaller one ended up being 125K bigger than the 120 X 120 size. We need a way to resize the animations right inside APNG edit after they have been chopped. Hopefully the Lanczos method. If we don't make the files as small as possible this idea will fail.

Nice extention, thanks! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I upgraded to Firefox 3 just to make use of this extension. It's nice to see a viable (and free) alternative to animated GIFs. It has all the basic functionality one would need.

That being said, I would recommend the ability to set the frame intervals globally instead of having to change them all individually. Also, the APNG file I create is twice as large (1.1MB) as the folder of PNG files I use to create them (600KB). Is this normal?

Great, but one small thing... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is excellent! Just one thing, can you make it compatible with Nightly releases (3.0a9pre)? It doesn't quite work right on it.
