  • Please update your extension so that it can work with Firefox 15.0+ :-(

  • Liked the plugin a lot. But I prefer http://preloaders.net for creating loading apng. They have all the animations I need :) I just can't really think what the animations would be really useful other than for loading :)

  • Overall a very handy tool to add to FireFox. I could see room for improvement in the timing of each frame defaults to 250ms. I would like to be able to set my own default timing instead of running through each fame. Another possible improvement would be to load all the frames in one shot. Other than that you can't fault this tool since it was developed for free and anyone who knows anything about GIFs they are limited to 256 colors. With that said, I wouldn't even bother with importing them.

  • Disappointed. It only loads the first frame of an animated GIF, and only lets me add one frame at a time. This is not useful to me.

  • Need some automatic optimizations:
    1. Save only smallest bounding rectangle
    2. Save only frame difference

Look how "Optimize" button works in APNG Anime Maker - simple and effective.

Animated Persona authors ran into filesize limit too easily.

  • No one seems to have answered the question of how to use this once installed: well after installation and a brief look around i found a new option in the "Tools" menu as "APNG Editor".

Now, if only there was a fade in/out function in this..

  • Is good, but is difficult to see were the designs "stay placed", if we are doing a banner / Personas, and the size if we are working with photos is always too heavy!

  • how do i use the program, i just downloaded it and installed it, Re-started firefox and nothing happend:S?

  • hi me again, i'm trying to install this again but this time i'm having a problem. it tells me is not compatible with ver 3.5 so i installed ver 3.6 and is still not working for me. could you help me?

  • It's good, but if you load something big, it has no scroll bar, therefore the "New Frame" box would be hidden under it. I'm not sure if you can actually add scroll bars on things like this, but just to let you know :)

  • OMG! thank you sooo much! is great :D

  • Very nice tool, but without the possibility of loading an existing APNG, its quite annoying.

I hope more major browser will start supporting APNG soon. FF rocks!

  • Not an editor really, can't edit existing APNGs only create new ones. There is no way to set the default options for the next added frames, so if you add several frames be prepared to do a lot of clicking-typing-clicking for every property of every frame.

  • This thing is great for making the animated pngs that we've been using on Bulbapedia. I use it each time I need to make an animation of a sprite.

I do wish it was able to open png files and read whether or not they were animated already, so you could edit their timing, images, and so on.

  • This is a great tool for making APNGs which you can use in themes. Good Work!

  • Good, not lightweight according to its limited capabilities

  • This is a very nice editor that is easy to use and gets the job done in a simple fashion. Though I prefer a standalone app with more options, including opening existing apngs, but I'm sure it will get better with future updates. Nice work. :)

I found a nice standalone editor that does pretty good. It's called Japng. It was made in Java and you can find it here for anyone who is interested: http://www.reto-hoehener.ch/japng/

I can't wait to see the future of this new format and hopefully see the horrible format know as gif fade away silently.

  • An excellent tool for what it does; it would be better if it had the functionality to directly create animations from other animated formats, i.e. accessing a .avi etc. through it and it rips the frames (just the ones that are different from the predecessing frame to save space as the .APNG is just a little bit bigger than the sum of the original frames) and calibrates the delay per frame to appear just as the original video, except in an image format which has a tiny file size compared to equivalent .avi etc. with crystal clarity. Kudos to Mozilla for this one and as Nuck Chorris sort of said before; this is an excellent system but it should be a standalone program, not a firefox addon.

  • I think that a tool such as this is better suited to be a stand-alone than a browser Add-on. I would suggest making this tool separate with XULrunner. As it is, though, I would like the ability to convert GIFs, import multiple files at a time, and open APNG files back up.

To Prospective Users: it hogs memory, and is not for the faint of RAM nor the weak-CPU'd. It takes a LOT of RAM, even for just 15-20 bite-size frames, it can take up a lot of your RAM.

Despite all this, I think this tool has great potential, and APNG itself has even greater potential. I hope that APNG will get more support soon, like from Adobe. I will try to support APNG, and I plan to use it if I ever need to use animation on the web w/o Flash.

Overall, 3 stars. Get more features to get 4 stars. Get APNG supported by Adobe (esp. Photoshop) and another major Web Browser (IE (Yeah right), Opera, Safari, or Chrome), and that 4 will become a 5.

  • I love the idea of APNG but this has to be the worst application ever. Load 80 13 kb PNG images on it and it takes up way over 2 GB of RAM and grinds itself to death. Go program something else.

  • This add-on is extremely useful to me, though I do wish that it had more features.

  • Awesome! APNG much more better than animated GIF.

  • Um ok I get how it works and all but It'd be nice if it was still animated once it's saved to ur hard-drive...
