Quick and dirty check of site popularity Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I use Alexa Sparky as a very quick way of finding the relative popularity of a web site - I mainly benchmark the ranks against my own sites. For example, my main site has a ranking which is half the rank of the site used for my wife's business. My site gets around twice the traffic she gets. Therefore I can assume sites with lower rankings get less traffic than me, sites with higher rankings get more traffic.

There is one odd thing about this. My site's ranking has fallen away dramatically in recent months -- I've fallen from around 295,000 to 470,000 -- but the traffic measured by Google Analytics and my own logs has doubled. I guess this is because Sparky is mainly used by webmasters and my site doesn't appeal to them.
