Does not work with Gmail, Hotmail, missing misspelled word. Fire Fox build in speller much superior program than this on. Vest of memory.

Please request support

You should file a support request with us. AtD for Firefox is tested with Gmail and Hotmail. Please provide a list of add-ons you have installed, your operating system, and what version of Firefox.

Also remember that After the Deadline does not check your writing as you type. You have to click the ABC button in the lower right corner of the editor.

I really like this add-on. It works like a charm, mostly. There seems to be an issue with the popular CKEditor, though. AtD wil not work in conjunction with this editor. As soon as this is fixed, you'll get five stars.

Version 1.11 makes this add-on great! It finally solve the compatibility with the native Firefox error checker! Great job!!!

Great add on for websites with few forms on them, however if you go to a page like facebook where there are many editable fields, it freezes up firefox.

Otherwise great.

We're aware of this issue

We're aware of this issue and a fix will be available soon. For now you can right-click on the Facebook page and deselect "Use AtD on this site". This will disable After the Deadline on Facebook.

This is a great add-on indeed! In fact I am only writing this to test it out so if this is spelt wrongly then its all you're fault!
it capitalizes the I in the beginning of the sentence but it doesn't capitalise other letters at the start of a sentence e..?
If I type something whilst the add-on is active (the icon is red) then if I click the icon again, the typed out text DISAPPEARS!!!?
That could be dodgy.
Hmm...one less star.

Please report bugs in the right place

Please report the disappearing text issue as a bug. When you report this as a bug (firefox@afterthedeadline.com is a good place to do so), don't forget to include the URL where you experienced this, the exact steps to reproduce it, your Firefox version and operating system. A list of add-ons you have installed helps too.

Since I first read about it over at Lifehacker.com there has been a problem with AtD and WYSIWYG editors. With Update 1.1 AtD seem to be working better with WYSIWYG editors but after editing the text body with AtD for some reason it wont let me click "Post" [submit the post]. For some reason, AtD blocks the Post button and never releases the block. Even reloading the page doesn't help.

- For WYSIWYG editors with colored by backgrounds default, when using AtD, the background becomes white. This is a pain when editing because by default text editors with colored background by default set the font color to white by default.
-[minor]The text found in the box becomes centered but once the editing is done it is returned to its original alignment.

- [Minor] Before on the AtD right click menu a DownThemAll option would sneak in as well as one from AdBlock Plus. Well the DTA option is gone but the ABP is still showing up.

Other than these problems, AtD is an exellent addon with a prosperus future.

Please send a bug report (with details)

We're going to work to improve the proofreader's ability to inherit style information from the WYSIWYG editor. The current method is usable on the popular web applications we tested with.

If you could contact us and provide URLs to websites where you're using WYSIWYG editors with color backgrounds and the site you're having trouble using post with, we'll look into it. Without this information, we can't make a better add-on for you.

I also would like it to be enabled automatically or at least when it's not enabled let the Firefox spell check work because by default this makes your typing devoid of any spellcheck and so far this is the best spellcheck for Firefox. Personally I like it for things like forgetting to capitalize my "I"s and I forget things like apostrophes and such so this helps as I don't ever depend on a grammar check of any kind because it's just too hard to understand the type of message and most are set to ultra formal typing and 90% of my online typing is informal.

Spellcheck works. I can't say the same for the grammar check. And yes. I checked them all in the options menu.

Could be a plugin conflict

The first version (1.0) of this add-on had a conflict with many add-ons because of a poorly named global variable in our code. Is it possible AtD wasn't enabled for you and you were just seeing results from the built-in spell checker? You have to click the AtD icon in the text box to get AtD checking.

Which languages are supported by this extension?
Thanks

Languages

We support English right now. We will be rolling out Portuguese, French, Spanish, and German next.

Very good add-on. Only two suggestions:
1. Add an option to make checking automatic (without clicking the hotkey)
2. Make all ATD context menu (right-click) items be above other ones.
3. Make ATD use the default spell-check dictionary localization.

Update from 0.1a14 to 1.0 always failed Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Automatic update 0.1a14 to the current version failed many times. So, I had to come on this page of this add-on and install it.

Working fine, otherwise :-)

Excellent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I’ve just installed this add-on and I find it excellent! Easy to use, cheks ortography, grammar and it gives you the right options/suggestions. It also offers explanationsabot the suggestions it gives. It's really great!
Please keep it updated regarding the new Firefox versions to avoid disabling the extensions compatibility checks.

While this add-on is still under development, it gets better with every release. This add-on checks your writing and stays out of the way.

After the Deadline is the proofreading technology used on WordPress.com. Why do you want it in your browser?

The spell checker uses context to generate suggestions. It smartly suggests the word you intended.

This add-on looks for misused words. Do you know when to use affect or effect? Misused words account for 1/3 of all writing errors. No other browser-based writing tool finds these.

This add-on also checks your writing style and grammar. Silly typos and tense errors are found with ease. This add-on also has an option to explain your errors to you.

This add-on will make you a better writer.
