extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Worked! I add the property "extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0" at "about:config" setting it to "false". After it, I gotta install.
Thanks for the tip!

belongs to Google??? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

On http://karmatics.com/aardvark/ it says "Aardvark was created by Rob Brown (rjbrown@gmail.com) and now belongs to vark.com." but http://vark.com is a completely unrelated "social search engine", also called Aardvark, that was acquired by Google. Is this a trademark issue? Anyway, I'm glad the malware block went away. I'm using Aardvark with Fx 4 and so far I haven't had any problems.

Excellent add-on. Although this may be a lot of work for you, please make it available for Firefox 4.0. Thanks.

Another Workaround for Aardvark in FF4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

If you're careful, you can go into 'about:config' in Firefox 4, searching for 'extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0' and setting it to 'false' to allow you to enable certain "incompatible" extensions. Aardvark DOES work fine in Firefox 4.0. Despite being seemingly-abandoned by the author, Aardvark is still my favorite extension of its type, making it easy to format a page for printing or screen captures.

Workaround for Aardvark in FF4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As far as I can tell, Aardvark works fine with FF4. One just has to modify install.rdf slightly (at my PC I located the file in a sub-folder named aardwark@rob.brown)...
Simply change
<em:maxVersion>3.6.*</em:maxVersion>
to
<em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion>

That's All, Folks

The Web site is now reported by Google as heavily infested with malware (reported attack page), and reviews above suggest the author is AWOL. Hopefully someone else decides to shepherd this beyond 3.x, but in the meantime devoted fans might need to use something like MR Tech Toolkit (which itself is awaiting an update) to force compatibility with new (4.x+) versions....

I use the R (remove) and U (undo) functions.

"Save Page As" not working as expected Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using Aardvark for a few days now, and I love it :)

I used to use FireBug to do the same thing, but Aardvark is great when I don't need a full-featured debugger and just want to trim the page back a bit.

One issue I'm having though-- I chop out the things I don't want, using the "r" hotkey, and they disappear... then I do a File, Save Page As..., but the page that gets saved is the original version of the page (before Aardvark-ing the crap out of it.) Also, doing a View, Page Source does not show any page elements removed.

So, in summary, Aardvark removes things from the page you're viewing, but Firefox's "Save Page As..." does not carry these changes over to the saved file. Can anyone else confirm this?

Firefox 3.6.12
Aardvark 3.0

@koyama: Try right-clicking the page and "Start Aardvark" first ;)

I got it installed alright, but nothing happens when I press "K" = kill.
Until resolved this otherwise great extension is useless.

Please integrate isolate with RIP! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A MUST-HAVE extension!

One feature that makes this add-on so powerful is that there are two ways of removing page elements: isolate elements you want or remove elements you don't.

Would it be possible to integrate both those methods with RIP? For instance, use r and i to reduce the page down, then store the resultant element removals in RIP?

How can I keep Isolated items? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I can keep only one item in the whole page, I can do this in two ways, ripping all other items (works) or isolating the item I want to keep (works until you refresh the page, it doesnt remenber the isolating action like rip action does).
