My Reviews

JSView

Missing this is 3.6.x Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Although there are instructions for modifying the install.rdf and repackaging, it would be wonderful to have this fantastic addon updated on AMO.

Thanks again

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.5).

Flash Switcher

FANTASTIC with a few quirks Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a LIFE SAVER!!

Okay review goes as follows:
1) Download the version that is at the Authors homepage since amo's copy is out of date.
2) Using Official Mozilla Firefox 3.0.11 (32bit) on Macintosh, Windows and Linux 64bit distro:
a) Linux - Just had to change the repository to my local profile instead of the global.
b) Windows - Worked like a charm.
c) Macintosh - Worked... BUT Flash 10.0 r22 is weird... instead of creating the two files that your addon copies, Adobe creates a subdirectory/folder structure for it. Your addon is not currently capable of deleting the existing folders... SO after I "Saved" 10.0 r22 via your Save menu item, closed Firefox and went and deleted the folder manually... Then your addon works like a charm. :)

Thanks for a great addon and I hope that you resubmit to amo soon and perhaps a little bit of a guide on how to get it working with the Mac people. :)

P.S. For all the other reviewers... Install a version of Flash normally, then Save it via this addon to support newer Flash versions... quite elegant minus the curve ball Adobe threw in with 10.0 r22 on the Mac.

JavaScript Deobfuscator

Helpful indeed Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great addon...

Feature requests tho:
- When window is opened and running have a checkbox to temporarily stop capturing.

- Separate Clear logs

- Deeper scope to include scripts that may be executed locally.

Nice work!

Ghostery

Excellent Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Excellent for identifying what a site uses.

Would like a request or few though:

- When the bubble appears allow a user to click the bubble to remove it before the timeout expires.

- Check to see if JavaScript is enabled for a particular site first before showing individual frameworks.

Flashblock

Disappointed... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I'm reminded of the description of this addon which currently states:

...and blocks ALL Flash content from loading...

Flashblock currently blocks the following content types:
* Macromedia Flash
* Macromedia Shockwave
* Macromedia Authorware

This addon used to be a core addon that I installed on not just my own machines, but others... however... late last year I discovered that your above advertisement is false and have thus removed it from dozens of machines. It's taken me quite a bit of time to "recover" from this apparent oversight, calm down and spend a rather long period of contemplation writing this review.

Luckily NoScript addon properly blocks ALL flash objects with one change to "apply these restrictions to trusted sites".

Flashblock currently allows several JavaScript Framework Flash objects through BY DESIGN... most notably sIFR among a few others.

Due to this lack of disclosure on AMO, I can't recommend this addon period due to security concerns.

In order to improve this rating, Flashblock should ASK or give a default option to NOT ALLOW sIFR and other JavaScript Flash frameworks and divulge to the general public here on AMO that it DOES allow some Flash through.

Greasefire

MUCH NEEDED however... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This is a much need addon and it's concept seems very sound however the growing pains of it are a bit much.

1) Database appears to be a bit too biased and from what I've read on USO it was actually errored for a while. A lot of scripts still aren't showing up... perhaps in time this will iron itself out.

2) Greasefire should give an option to open the scripts web page in the main window instead of building a sub-browser window... which leads to the next point.

3) Browser subwindow in this add-on completely ignores browser security... e.g. cookies, images, scripting, etc. Could easily be remedied by giving the user an option described in point 2.

Because of points 2 and 3, I can not recommend this script to anyone... I'm still of the opinion that once a few security concerns are addressed and the database retrieval method is fixed (and updated without too much bias [I know spammers like to hit USO a lot])...

...this could easily get a FIVE STAR rating!

Photo to Text Convertor

Non-functional Not yet rated

Non functional and also it calls a server side script which is considered a security risk.

Sorry... neat, fun idea though... try again?

Secure Sanitizer

Neat and just what I'm looking for... but Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Some sort of visual indicator would be helpful for testing. This is similar to NetCaptors cleaning methods, and I do like the silent approach for long term usage, but for testing... without examining your code in great detail, it would nice to have a visual progress indicator that could show me how many passes, what it's cleaning, etc.

Thanks for the work so far! :)

Javascript Command

Very nice Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Although it took me a short time to figure out how to "un-close" it, it seems very nice and could be useful for diagnosing how other sites interact with JavaScript.

Very nice description on your extension... which I find a lot of others don't take the time to do that. Keep up the great work. :)

DNS Cache

Cute Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I will have to test this more in-depth, but seems to be solid... rating at an 8 for now.

JShell

Simple and Sweet Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Although there are a few warning messages in the JavaScript error console, this is a very nice add-on and just what I'm looking for.

Minor Suggestions:
1) Set javascript.options.strict to true in about:config and fix any warning messages that come up

2) Preview image supplied here isn't exactly what I'm seeing under Linux.

Thank you. :)

JShell

Simple and Sweet Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Although there seems to be a few warning messages in the JavaScript Error console, this is a truly adorable add-on and quite helpful especially since it has the ability to change scope.

Minor Suggestions:
1) enable javascript.options.strict to be true in the about:config and fix any that show up.

2) Preview image supplied here, doesn't match what I'm seeing on Linux.

Greasemonkey

Frank evaluation Not yet rated

+2 Initial creativity
-1 Firefox compatibility
-2 Author reliability
+1 Team member support
-2 Syntactically correct
-2 no "features" present (bugs)
0 GUI
-1 Portability
-2 Bug fixes released to amo on a timely schedule
-2 Listening to user input

Mathematical mean average out of 10 possible points -9 leaving +1 for rating.

This add-on just barely works as of 0.7.20070607.0 which I'm grateful for, but way too many bugs. Perhaps 0.8.0 will be better.

Tab Mix Plus

Great extension Rated 4 out of 5 stars

As usual, great job... just make sure you are ready for FF3 when it's officially released... don't want a repeat of FF2 ;)

Thanks again for all the hard work! :)

Scroll Menus On Drag

The Most Overlooked extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Without this my mouse buttons would be completely worn out! ;) Thanks for this awesome extension!

MR Tech Toolkit

First In, Never Out Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Even with minor glitches here and there between versions, this extension has turned my extension experience with FF into a charming adventure.

Thanks for this awesome extension! :)

Download Manager Tweak

Almost Perfect but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This extension, like others have commented, is almost transparent and is easy to forget that it's installed...

But on a RARE occasion, the default download manager occasionally rears it's head up, and then I go into shell shock that this extension isn't showing.

Keep up the great work! :)

Console²

Coders dream come true! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for an awesome extension, never had a problem with it! :)

Adblock Plus

Key to internet survival Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well I don't really have anything bad to say about Adblock Plus, it works the majority of the time and I have almost never had to worry about it... other than TO MAKE SURE IT'S INSTALLED ON EVERY MACHINE! ;)

Thanks for this great extension and I look forward to seeing it in FF3, when available.

RefControl

BEST I'VE SEEN Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension doesn't get as much attention as it deserves. It's simple, accurate, and does the job and with a smashing intuitive interface.

Thanks and keep up the great work! :)
