My Reviews

Synology Download Extender

wow! just works simple and fast (config and adding links) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

one of the best and simplest synology download addon out there (if not the only one, which is working on DSM6.x)

its clear and easy to configure and as well easy to use.

also, it shows a nice status-panel when clicking on thre icon.

SynoExt

seems not to work on DSM6.x Rated 2 out of 5 stars

what to do...
....use "Synology Download Extender" instead.

Autoplay Toggle

Red icon indicates ENabled, blue indicates DISabled ? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

That doesnt seem intuitive for me, but good that there is a tooltip...
It also forgets it settings on browser (Mac, ff48) restart, like others have written, which is bad.
great idea btw!

EDIT1: dunno what changed (addon version number is still the same), but after some days, autoplay addon restores the last chosen setting after FF restart, which is now a great deal.

stops autoplay on soundclound and youtube....

EDIT2: sorry, my bad. Addon does NOT restore its settings afer FF restart. It turned out, that autoplay is now (in contrary after the first install) always DISabled, after restarting FF.
Strangely, autoplay was ENabled, the last weeks, after resarting FF.

... no clue...

The Camelizer - Price Tracker

"Es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Thats all I got...when I click some links in the windows...
w/ ff48 on mac.

DownThemAll!

I use it since years. It works solid. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

some minor glitches stay over the years, but they don't affect the usefulness of this great addon.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.19).

FoxyScrobbler

lets hope, it works! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I just installed it in my ff48.0 for Mac and Win7 in the hope of having a Scrobbler for Soundcloud.

So far, I listened to some music for two days, but nothing is scrobbled. (Scrobbling is working for other tools, so its this addon, which does not work)

I authorized this addon to use my last.fm account after restarting ff, but there was another tab opened which clould not loaded, maybe the website from the developer. (EDIT: Yes, the website of the developer is not reachable atm....maybe thats the reason, the component isn't working! cannot load: http // www baluvaithinathan com / foxyscrobbler / updated )

A Youtube music video is not scrobbled too.

No gibberish in the names of the tracks.

On the nice little icon, I found the text "username not set" and entered my last.fm username, but then the menu-entry was just "username:" don't know, if this indicates a problem.

Also, the addon decriptions says:
"Tag currently playing artist and track" -> but how & where?

"Unobtrusive notifications (can be turned off)" -> never saw any notifications, so its very Unobtrusive :-) Setting is On.

keep up the good (and maybe hard) work!

Evernote Web Clipper

the settings became more and more inexplicable Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Now the users have to fill in a
Default Notebook GUID
and a

Error Console

useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

what to say more :)

CookieKiller

A useful pain in the... for MAC users Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Well, I used it quite some time and its neat and useful and it does it things very well,
BUT when you use the trackpad of a MacBookPro and just single click on the icon in the status bar (or awesomebar or addonbar) it just deletes the first entry, from the upcoming context menu with the listed cookies (the entry, the mouse is pointed at, not the first entry in the list).

So it *randomly* deletes cookies, while the user wants to check the list or do something else.

This is a no go, and it sucks very much, because the deleting of the cookie is so fast, the user cannot see which one was deleted. (anyways, why no undo?!)

It would be much more convenient for the user, if he had an *option to set up* to verify the deletion (really want to kill the cookie, my dear user?) or not delete on a single click, but on a second click.

I guess, on windows, maybe *nix systems, this will work all as expected, but on a Mac, the usability just don't work.

Wiktionary and Google Translate

good impression! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just installed and tweaked it (by reading the help-pages and changing the tooltip script) and it turned out to be very useful.

imho, the only deficit is, when using the german wiktionary as source -compared to the english ones, which can be shown at the same time-, the addon shows far too less information from that site.

Also, it sometimes gives different results for the same selected word, depending on where on the webpage the word is selected ;-) funny...

Evernote Web Clipper

not working Rated 1 out of 5 stars

languagefile seems not to load. %all% %text% %is% %not% %translated% and the buttons do not work....

Google search link fix

thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

just works!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.3).

Evernote Web Clipper

it never worked... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

and (guessed from the testings/tryings) never will....

Cookie Manager Button

simple and useful! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

exactly, what I was looking for.
no extra bloating functions... just the icon in the addon bar so quickly jump to the firefox cookies list! yeah!

Custom Buttons

solid. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use some buttons since years. (Clear SearchBar, URL-Tools, Easy Reader (1-click) and some others...)

Now, with FF 43 I feel no difference.

FF is as slow as usual ;-) (Have >40 addons installed)

The buttons, I use work good, since years.

I hope, they will work a lot of years along.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.0.5.8.1-signed.1-let-fixed).

Classic Theme Restorer

I'm so lost without it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I would have dropped ff if this add-on wouldn't be.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.7).

Context Menu Image Saver

Very identical to "Save Image in Folder" Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Has some less options to configure:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-image-in-folder

Add-ons Manager Context Menu

Really is useful and intuitive Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Offers all options which are available. perfect!

Small and useful thing missing:
A shown addon-id should be next to the COPY-ID entry (like mentioned by alta88)

Add Directly to Unsorted Bookmarks

saves clicks! :-) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

this addon: 2 clicks: context-menu on link/or page itself + "bookmark this page/link to unsorted"
ff-default: 4 clicks: show your bookmarks (ff menü) + open the unsorted bookmarks folder + add bookmark here + OK

I wish, the "bookmark this link to unsorted" was in the "show your bookmarks"-menu too, because the links in the content menu are too mixed up.

clicking on a link, the entry "bookmark this link to unsorted" is next to default bookmark text "bookmark this link".
on a page, the entry "bookmark this page to unsorted" is somewhere else entirely, when you look on the default "bookmark this page".

Send Tab to Device

works plain and simple (could be a little bit more userfrienly) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

great and simple addon! does the work reliable!

BUT the UI is quite too small for all devices here (7) so I need to scroll down everytime I'd like to send a tab to another device.

I wished for something like this: remember last choice and preselect, so I just need to press enter or click OK. (would be very fast to use then!)

Resizable window to see all devices at once.

Also, the Addon cannt be invoked from the context menu of a tab in the tabbar, which would made perfectly sense and would be intuitive too.

Anyways, does the job.
