Trustrating by Marabunta

Trustrating shows you how trustworthy a news source is while you read – based on your own ratings, not on an algorithm.

How it works:
• When you open an article, a discreet badge shows the average of your previous ratings for the domain and author.
• One click lets you rate 1–5 stars, optionally with a note and an evidence link (the article URL is pre-filled).
• Authors are tracked separately from domains and always keyed with their domain – name collisions across sites are impossible. News agency credits (dpa, afp, …) are detected and marked.

Principles:
• No AI, no filtering: content is never modified or blocked. Trustrating only displays your ratings.
• Universal parser: reads JSON-LD (schema.org/NewsArticle) with OpenGraph/meta fallback – works on virtually all news sites without a site list.
• Third-party opinions: external ratings (e.g. NewsGuard, Media Bias/Fact Check) can be imported as JSON and are shown separately as a comparison. No data is bundled.
• Your data stays yours: everything is stored locally in the browser, JSON export/import, no tracking, no account required. Optionally, your own server (stage 2) can be connected as a storage backend.
