About this Add-on
➊ Flick your finger quickly up or down ⇛ ➋ Click the notification button ⇛ ➌ Done
Instead of sticking on the top, the button will kick in only if the page is long enough (default setting: page length >4pages ) and you flick quick enough (default setting: vertical travel distance due to flicking >1page).
Clicking the button will bring you to the top or bottom of the page. The button will fade away, when you tap somewhere else outside the notification area, or just let it ride for a while.
Finally an "Undo Scrolling" button will show up and it can bring you back to where you were, the position when you touched the screen and started flicking, or when you clicked the "To XXX" button.
Although this addon works out of the box, if you take a while in the tuning mode, you will be rewarded with a more pleasing user experience. It depends on the screen size, your habit and of course the thickness of your finger. You might find the addon too intrusive, i.e. the notification kicks in even though you don't need it, then you might extend the value of Minimum distance traveled or Minimum page height, vice versa for the case that it is too cautious. Find the parameters suited for you in the tuning mode, and have fun!
The best user experience is possible, only after Bug 1019735 was fixed. Therefore you need Firefox v32 or later. It somehow works under Firefox v27-31, and you should definitely avoid installing this addon to Firefox prior to v27.

You might find the value of distance traveled that you see in the tuning mode is not measured accurately. That is true, and it is because Firefox for Android doesn't update the corresponding information in a timely manner. Even though a timer is in place, it is not accurate enough. Therefore, you should consider the value reported as a rough figure and set the threshold with the margins of error in mind.
And another point to keep in mind here is that, sometimes you flicked your finger, but the notification toast doesn't show up, or you clicked the button, but it doesn't respond. They all happen because when the UI of Firefox is busy, the event can be "EATEN" or ignored accidentally by Firefox. What you can do is to flick again and wish the best. Not a big deal, right?!
The addon might not work on some sites.
