Thanks so much. I had lost a profile some time ago, and with updating to Firefox 55, i know there will be changes to profiles, and so, wanted to insure I could revert if needed at some point.
This worked perfectly, and because my file manager has a zip function, (total commander) I encrypted it, password protected, and uploaded straight to Drive. I did not have to email myself a copy. After zipping, it was in my download folder. Also, I erased the unprotected version.
This add-on won't help with that, but Titanium Backup DOES keep your firefox profile, just make sure "Restore app external data" is ticked in preferences. I'm not sure if it matters but I had it ticked when I restored so it might.
Super easy way to debug and backup your profile. Great work!
There wasn't a link to be able to contact Miss Liebovic directly. I love this app but unfortunately, Mozilla says that it's not compatible w/my version on FireFox for Android. :(
I'm presently running FF Beta v27.0. Also, is the entire profile copied? And are bookmarks, reading list & preferences/settings a part of the data that's copied to the SD card?
Reason I ask is that my phone crashed twice & I lost everything APKs & install files, except the icon on my home screen. The phone tech I took my phone to for repair told me that everything was backed up to the SD card & all I had to do was reinstall the app & everything would be restored. He was wrong. Nothing was restored. I lost everything including all contacts, SMS/MMS messages, photos, apps & pdf files. When I found this app I was thrillled that there was an addon that would save my entire FF profile to the SD card....until I saw that it wasn't compatible with FF Beta v27.0.
Any advice or tips on how I can save my FF profile w/bookmarks, preferences & settings would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance, time & understanding with regard to my above questions.
This should be compatible with all versions of Firefox for Android. Testing with my own phone, I can install with Firefox Beta (v27).
To answer your question, yes, this add-on copies all of your Firefox data to the SD card, and it will appear in a folder called mozilla_profile. However, it doesn't provide a way for you to restore your data from this back-up, so I'm not sure that it will help you with your current situation.
If you have Firefox Sync set up, it will sync your bookmarks and certain preferences between different profiles, so that may be a good option for you for the future.
No more scripting over adb!
Now I can get my profile without having to use a debug build or rooting my device. Thanks!
