STATS (Sports Terms & Acronym Translations) by DLG

A cross-browser extension (Manifest V3) that scans the page you're reading and puts a subtle dotted underline under every sports statistics acronym it recognizes. Hover over one and a tooltip pops up with the full name, a plain-English definition, and the sport it belongs to — no searching required.

Covers 400+ stats across baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer (see src/data/dictionary.js for the full list).

Works on any site — ESPN, FanGraphs, Baseball Reference, The Athletic, Hockey Reference, Fbref, and more
Tooltip flips above/below and left/right so it never renders off-screen
Shadow DOM isolation — the tooltip can't be broken by host page styles, and can't leak styles onto the host page
Handles dynamic pages (React, infinite scroll) via a debounced MutationObserver
Per-sport toggles plus a master on/off switch, both in the toolbar popup
Zero data collection — the only permission is storage, used solely for your on/off preferences
Vanilla JS, no frameworks, no build step required to run it.
