- Rated 3 out of 5by Bb, 5 days agoI love proton, but this extension is not very good.. And same with the linux application for vpn..
Luckily i see they are getting more and more CLI tools for linux! (which will make it a lot better and easier)Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18837287, 8 days agoWorks perfectly and the connection is very fast (I have a 1 Gbps fiber connection and I don't notice any slowdown when the VPN is on). Used with a Proton Unlimited subscription.

posted 10 days agoSorry to hear that. We're aware of the issue, which our team is actively working on fixing. Make sure to keep your browser and the Proton VPN extension up-to-date for the latest improvements. Meanwhile, we’ve documented your feedback accordingly. - Rated 5 out of 5by Wizardly, 12 days agoThe VPN has varied in quality over the years. On some browsers it performs better than others; however, despite some minor bugs Proton's VPN is better than the others, which often siphon and sell personal data despite saying they won't.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Ryan, 13 days agoThe longer I use it, the worse it gets.
Every time I use it, it will eventually bug out and cause the browser to look connectivity altogether until I open the add-on manager and disable/enable it.
And about a third of the time (sometimes more), it will just decide to connect to a different endpoint than the one I selected.
These are two serious issues for a VPN. Someone needs to fix it and fix it soon.
Edit: Apparently, Proton has known about this issue for MONTHS, and they're still replying to reviews with "We're aware of the issue, which our team is actively working on fixing." Add more people to that team or revert to a previous version. It's absolutely ridiculous for this to be going on for this long.Developer response

I end up having to uninstall/reinstall the extension to get it working again.

posted 10 days agoThat doesn't sound right. Are you receiving any error messages? What are the specific steps you're taking that trigger the crash? Are you using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? Contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details so we can help you troubleshoot. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 20207090, 15 days agoWorks correctly. A lot of locations are available, performance is good.
It would be perfect if it became container aware, so you would be able to proxy only tabs from the shopping container, or private browsing windows for instance.Developer response

I've had to disable the extension multiple times because it causes Firefox to hang forever when trying to load any webpage. Similarly, I've had it struggle to establish https handshakes on websites that work instantly when disabled. Both problems seem to come and go unpredictably.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 20200639, 18 days ago1. Why the number of servers are significantly less than the App version? Some countries only have just a few servers, which tend to have high traffic during busy hours. Why limit users choices just in the browser extensions version???
REPLY to Devs: Your statement doesn't sound right. So I'm located in North America and let's use Country A as example, it only has like 15 servers in the Firefox extensions, but in the Proton App (both desktop and mobile), Country A has 50+ servers to choose from. Tell me how is this "smarter load-balancing"???
2. Recently it has become very buggy, not sure if it has anything to do with the recent firefox updates. It sometimes struggle to connect a single server, or simply any server at all, and I had to manually kill the extension in the broswer setting, then turn it back on.
REPLY to Devs: Yes latest Firefox and latest extension (which hasn't been updated since early August by the way). Of course I have other extensions installed (who would only have Proton VPN installed while using Firefox?) Reading through the other comments, I'm not the only the person having this issue. You guys need to work on an overhaul update for Firefox.Developer response
posted 17 days agoWe're sorry to see that you're dissatisfied. Regarding the connection issue, could you share more details? Are you receiving any error messages? On another note, because our popularity and our customer base continues to grow as new users learn about the benefits of online privacy, our server fleet must also grow accordingly. This presents several challenges for us as we strive to support everybody across the globe. As a result, we've decided to present each user with a smaller, algorithmically-selected subset of servers instead of the full list of our fleet. This change is based on extensive analysis, testing, and a few technical constraints. It allows us to apply a smarter load‑balancing algorithm which will improve both stability and performance. It also strengthens our anti-censorship efforts, which is a core value here at Proton as well as for many of our users.
You can find more details about this at https://protonvpn.com/support/streamlined-server-lists. If you need to locate a specific server, you can use the search bar in the Proton VPN extension. Simply type in the exact server name (e.g. AR#90), and it will appear for you to connect. Developer response

If so, are you receiving any errors? Do you have any other extensions installed for privacy/security purposes?
