EDIT5 [ED6You were right, it 'was' not in 'screen2' but in [non-existing] screen3. Solved] Hi. Sorry, i don't have "Right click on the small preview window of the dict, there is a "move" item in the context."; maybe in w10 [which i despise], this is win 7.
Anyway even if i can enable this preview in win7, i have tried shift-win right or left arrows wich move apps between screens, and nope, also i add a tv as 2nd and there's nothing in the borders or in it. *This worked*: i right click the window item in the windows taskbar > 'close window'. Then in FFox 'recently closed windows' i reopen it, then it appears ok. So this is kind of 'solved'. (If the punctuation signs [, " :] interfering with words recognizing issue is not only me or win7, i guess i would stop coming here... i would imagine somebody else would put an issue in Github...) Many thanks.
EDIT4 Ehh i'm not that good reader, with "to not have to stop the auto-scroll" i meant just to not have to do extra clicks, not that i can read while the page moves constantly; i move over or under the "auto-scroll" symbol to faster find up or down where i want to read, then 'park' on the "auto-scroll" symbol to stop the moving, to read calmly [thre's a little reading while still moving but mostly it's when it's stopped] , "auto-scroll" is useful to move fast trough long pages and to not have to click the side navbar. Thx.
EDIT3 Sorry, i don't like the manipulation/censoring/spying of the current overlords of social networks so i'm not in twitr etc. i can 'clean' this post later if you want...
I'm using the English def dicts and some for other langs.
What i meant is [i'm using "Automatically select the word underneath when moving mouse" and "Enable floating definition of seleted word, support multiple languages" without "Need to hold the key..."](this while auto-scrolling {as activated by middle-click} through a page): words immediatelly followed by the punctuation signs ":" or "," or " " " wouldn't be recognized if i hover the mouse pointer over them [they get highlighted *with* the punctuation sign, so no floating pop-up appears]
[it works if i double-click the word so the punctuation sign is not included, but the idea is to not have to use clicks, to not have to stop the auto-scroll ]; *and if the word is in the middle of a 'linkified' sentence, double-clicking it is not an option...*]. Examples, won't produce pop-up:
word"

EDIT2 It stopped working 'suddenly' without i having installed or changed any addon. Maybe this has something to do: when it failed, i had 2 FFox windows, one was custom sized so i could see other program besides FFox at the same time.
I don't use Telegram or Discord; if its hard to replicate, no problem, i can live without the 'window'.
Another thing: some signs after the words causes them not to be recognized eg: ___" ___, ___: . Thx.
EDIT No, after updating to v2.5.1 still the window [not in fullscreen, +- a quarter in size, centered] briefly appears, then invisible. Thx for caring.]
Hi. originally it worked all ok, but now when i click on the icon, the 'new window' appears very small and very briefly, then disappears as if it were 1px x 1pxl or 0pxls, [in windows taskbar it appears so i can close it there, but the window itself is invisible].
I tried uninstalling the addon and reinstaling, restarting FFox [win7] , but still invisible. In case this is because some other addon or unresolved, please put an option to make it appear not in a new window but in a new tab.
[The floating def is working; please consider making it gone with a 'wiggle' of the mouse/moving the mouse in then out of the poppup, so not need to click to make it off].
Also, it would be nice if the user could choose what appears in the floating def, eg the def + translation/s to chosen langs.
When the 'window' worked, i could choose what dictionary to use there [but one at a time].
Thx.

posted 4 years agoEDIT6: Great, thanks.
EDIT5: Hi, glad to notice you that newest version of v2.6.1 has fixed your problem. Now it'll auto remove the ending of some punctuation signs. And no need to worry about the dict window out of the screen now, it'll be auto detected and fixed. Have a try?
Also, let's keep these conversion here. I think it's fun to let's everyone know how things could be interesting.
EDIT4: Today I got a windows pc, finally I find the should-be reason!! Somehow you might accidentally move the dict window outside of screen. Yes on windows you can do this, then it will remain just at the edge of the screen even when you reopen it. Or you might used dual screen then removed one? So that the dict window might remain outside of the current screen. A feature of this app is to remember the coordinate of the last position you know. How to fix this? Now comes the trick: Right click on the small preview window of the dict, there is a "move" item in the context. Select the Move option. Begin pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the invisible window from off-screen to on-screen. It's like magic, could you have a try? Tell me as soon as you tried, thank you.
EDIT3: OK, I create this issue on github: https://github.com/pnlpal/dictionaries/issues/35, just a reminder for me. I am going to look into it later. BTW your method of reading with auto-scrolling is amazing, can't believe somebody really use it that way. I will try to make it better. Thank you.
-------
Thank you for the feedback. This is interesting. One reason might be somehow the width or height of the dict is stored as 0, which normally should be impossible, but if that happens, the window disappeared. I fixed this by checking the value on initialization. Try again with v2.5.1?
---- update
Appeared then disappeared? weird. it seems not caused by this app, may be the other extensions? Have you tried to disable the others? Also this is not a good place to trace the problem. Could I contact you on Telegram or Discord? The links are in the description.
---- update2
What do you mean "some signs after the words causes them not to be recognized"? I don't get it. Which dictionary are you using? Do you have twitter or github account? A github issue is the best. Otherwise twitter is ok, right? Need your help, thx.

- Rated 5 out of 5by uynayz, a month agoEDIT: It works the same as before! i 100% reccomend just like before, this extension is one of the best extensions you can download on your firefox browser, especially if you arent a foreign speaker of english (or other languages this addon provides)
original comment: i absolutely love this add-on, i created an account to rate it.. however there was a tiny issue with it, it stopped working quite recently- im not sure why but it was great until now, 5/5 would reccomend!Developer response
posted a month agoThanks for the feedback, glad you like it. However, what is the function that stopped working? It sounds very serious. I am very actively developing and testing it now. It seems all working for me. Can you give me more clue? Please create an issue on github or at our community website pnlpal.dev so that we can communicate further on the issues. - Rated 5 out of 5by Supy153, 4 months agoThanks for the dark mode. But now every time I open the extension, the theme flashes white for a second before turning dark, and when I open the dictionaries tab, the background is still in white, can you fix this?
Edit: It's perfect now, thanks. - Rated 5 out of 5by ttuygun, 4 months ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by nomadrc, a year agoThe best and most comprehensive dictionary extension I've ever used by far. Sometimes however the 'mouse-over-a-word-for-a-definitions-popup' function, will stop working and I need to restart my browser to fix it. Otherwise I love this extension. I am using a non-standard browser (LibreWolf, a fork of Firefox), so this could conceivably be the issue since I haven't tested if it happens in other browsers.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Максим, 2 years agoOne of the best if not the best dictionary extension! I'm impressed by the features it has. Kudos to its author. But I don't understand why it's so underrated here, not so much users and feedback. It deserves more!

posted 2 years agoThank you. Currently it's not possible. Have to figure out a new way to fetch the result. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17179869, 3 years agoGreat extension!
I think one function is missing for 5-stars: I want to easily turn it on and off. With a right click on the button or in the pop-up menu.
Thanks!Developer response
posted 3 years agoHi, thank you for the feedback. But it actually supports to open from the context menu and left click on the icon button. Isn't it enough? - Rated 5 out of 5by Viet Anh, 3 years agoVery good UX and a wide range of supported dictionaries. One thing I hope the extension will support is the ability to change theme (light mode and fontsize of the popup).
