- Rated 1 out of 5by morbidlamb, 4 hours agoWhy the fuck did yall integrate AI into your addon? What the fuck is this update? You've ruined the extension. I used to praise this extension and recommend it to everyone but it's utter garbage now. It's so cluttered, disorganized, made my dashboard WORSE.
- Rated 1 out of 5by rabbun, 7 hours agoupdate to "bettercampus" instantly ruined everything. ugly interface, runs sluggishly at best, full of telemetry, asks for accounts, and forces nonsensical features on you.
also i have heard this is a vibecoded slop update too which checks out with the ai flash card feature they try to push on the user. this update comes with tons of weird permission requests too. feels extremely shady and gross to me :/ creepy
the update also deleted my custom theme and overwrote the to-do list that i had meticulously made. i guess im just baffled that even a browser extension can be enshittified
sometimes simple is better. occams razor. if you are a betrayed bettercanvas fan i've heard that canvas refined is the next place to go - Rated 1 out of 5by pyx, 10 hours agoThe new update is total slop coded garbage full of useless features nobody wants. I won't be using this extension anymore which is sad because the old version was decent but I refuse to use AI slop coded garbage
- Rated 1 out of 5by Jake_funkhouser69, 13 hours agoUsed to be goated until this vibecoded slop update ruined everything. We can't have nice things anymore thanks to people like you
- Rated 1 out of 5by Colemichael16, a day agoBettercanvas has been slopified. Stay away from this extension. The latest update has ruined the app, making you have to create a account to do anything in the app. The new UI is bloated and messy. Really sucks this used to be my favorite extension, but all things end eventually.
- Rated 1 out of 5by strawb3rrym1lk_, a day agoNew update is so much worse than before. Totally regret installing it. Downgrading immediately.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Lilenth, 2 days agoThe new update actively ruined my morning. It was full of so much slop I was practically blinded by it, and all it did was make me see red. Thank you to the multiple users who informed me on how to revert it to an older version.
- Rated 1 out of 5by estado_do_acre, 3 days agoTerrible update nobody asked for, all I wanted was a theme on my Canvas bro. As others have said it's luckily very easy to revert (Version History => See all versions => Download version 5.12)
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18462258, 3 days agoBetter Canvas is now Better Campus and it's complete AI slop and vibe coded garbage. Canvas runs incredibly slower; almost like a sloth. This new version pushes a pro subscription and google account sync for existing features. If these issues aren't concerning enough, there are also several new data permissions that scream security issues. If you're going to continue using it and want an actual five stars Canvas extension you'll need to revert immediately to version 5.12.0 by going to the extension's Mozilla list page and follow: Version History > See all versions > Older versions > Version 5.12.0 > Download file
- Rated 1 out of 5by progamer63, 3 days agoRevert to Version 5.12.0. New version is pure AI slop. Wants data for all websites, wants a google login, wants a Microsoft login. GitHub has no activity. Support Email is not the devs actual email.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 20048636, 4 days agoNew update is just vibe coded in your face slop. Had to revert back
- Rated 1 out of 5by D33P, 4 days agoDO NOT GIVE IT NEW PERMISSIONS. The source code is no longer updated on github, which is worrying as it means this new update could have anything in it and we wouldn't know - especially with all the new permissions it requests.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Noah R., 4 days agoVery good at what it does. HOWEVER, there is no reason for it to request/require read-write permissions on every single website. Let the user add specific site(s) to an allowlist.
- Rated 2 out of 5by lizzieonl1ne, 4 days agoThis new update really ticked me off when I first installed it. I liked how simple it was before. While the new UI is nice, it definitely has succumbed to feature creep. JUst initially loading the new UI made my poor browser slow to a crawl. AND STOP ASKING ME TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT!!! NO ONE WANTS TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT FOR AN EXTENSION!!
However I do still think it helps A LOT with getting stuff done. It still accomplishes its goal of making the canvas UI much better and easier to use, in fact, I do think the update is more of an endgame version of this, in this aspect it is much better than the previous version.
But my god, slow down with the feature creep, and stop prompting me to sign in for two features I dont care about. I just want to see what I have to do!
Edit: JUst noticed the account feature lets you have like, a planner and lecture notes/recordings and stuff. It would be great if I could opt to not make an account and integrate these features with other standards and services (like caldav, webdav, nextcloud, google, etc)!
Also, the other reviewer has a point. Why does it need that permission? - Rated 2 out of 5by AnyClick, 5 days agoThe extension itself is great, but with the new update you are required to allow the extension access to ALL browser tabs and your data for ALL websites. Completely unnecessary for an extension that lets you customize Canvas. If you have an old version, just never update it. If not, find a different extension.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Sebydooo, 24 days agoI quite enjoy what this extension does, but i cant ignore how this extension handles its customization. It's quite annoying how limiting the options can be, such as the side bar with its image implementation and the color picker operation not working. Maybe it's because I'm on firefox, I don't know.
I would love it if we had the option to manually change the CSS code through this extension. For example, if there was a third button that opened a textbox, containing the relevant css code in relation to whatever its attached to.
AKA. let me put an image in the sidebar without having a gradient forcefully wash out my image :sob: - Rated 5 out of 5by Alexander, 4 months agoOh my gods I'm sobbing. So much better than the slop Chrome users are stuck with. Old BetterCanvas how I have missed you (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
- Rated 1 out of 5by Username, 4 months agoThe recent update is not good. They keep shilling their new subscription service, the ui is much worse and it feels bloated and almost certainly vibe-coded by an ai. They have removed basic customisation and functionality and most likely have locked it behind the subscription pay-wall. It asks for your google account for absolutely no reason. All the crappy new elements are also deliberately made in a way that its impossible to block it with uBlock origin or other content blockers.
I regret asking for an update in my previous review, and will be reverting back to version 5.12.
(As mentioned in other reviews, if you want to do so just go to the version history in the more information section.) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19971105, 4 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by deanna, 5 months agomy favorite extension ever. Been using it for years now and it's never failed me. So so so many cool themes made by other users and making a theme is easy. Somehow has genuinely made being on canvas and getting work done way easier when the theme is fun or interesting to me. A ton of thanks and good wishes for the person who made this thing! Thank you!
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19568111, 6 months agoNo update in two years, devs dont care about firefox
- Rated 5 out of 5by GC., 9 months agoExcellent! Highly recommend for Canvas users, whether just a regular student or TA/LA. One wish I have is that the upcoming assignments To-Do list time range was more customizable, either with a set end date or more time ranges (especially "2 weeks" or "3 weeks" which is what I would love to have). But that's very nit-picky and I use the Firefox version, which could be more limited? But regardless, this extension has made Canvas way easier to use. Thank you for your great work ksucpea!
